The Media In Today's Society

Media, why do you gotta be so rude?

The media is such a powerful thing these days. You can be anybody and have Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter, just to name a few of course. Celebrities in particular can have any of these accounts. They are being judged on all of these accounts twenty-four seven which is a little cray cray if you ask me. Certainly, the media has changed a lot in the past few years and a lot of it has to deal instant gratification.

We as a society think that we have to know every little detail about someone the second it is released. I am not going to lie, I like to be updated on everything quickly through social media. Social media is a great outlet to update people about your life. It is cool to watch celebrities update us on what they are doing. However, the media love to pry and get the latest information on celebrities such Taylor Swift or Beyonce. They weave through every little detail, not just the regular updates. It is their job to pry at times, I get that part of it. But celebrities deserve a little privacy at times. They can not get privacy at all if the media is going to be focused on all aspects of their lives. The media just needs to take a chill pill for a second, let celebrities breathe and be normal for a few minutes.

I think it is hard to put ourselves in celebrities shoes at times. We think that it is cool that they are famous in movies and television. But I think that we forget that they are real people just like us at the end of the day. Moral of the story, just be nice to everyone and let people have their space. If we give people like celebrities their own space, maybe they will want to share more of their lives with us.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.
