Is The Media Biased? Watch For The March For Life To Find Out

This week, one of the largest attended events will take place at our nations capitol. It has an attendance of over half a million people who flock from all over the United States to walk the streets of D.C. in protest. Hoping to win equal rights for all humans, their message has been one that has grown in strength in recent years. However, if you think I am talking about the Women’s March you would be mistaken. Just days after the election of President Donald Trump, tens of thousands will march through Washington in protest of the Roe v. Wade decision to legalize abortion. But unlike the women’s march this event may pass by without you ever hearing about it. Why? Because the media simply won’t cover it.

The Women’s March has been flooding every news and social media source in recent days with enough intensity to make me want to scream if I see another pink hat as I scroll through my newsfeed. An event that was touted by reporters as being “historic”, I could not help but wonder how an event that has a record setting attendance each year, could be completely ignored by reporters. Voiced by Trump who sees the media as a propaganda extension of the Democratic party, I could not help but have to agree. However, if journalists are serious about cleaning up their perceived image, the March for Life provides an excellent opportunity to for them to do so. A study done by the Media Research Center found that major news networks covered the Women’s March 129 times more than the March for Life last year. With over one hour and 15 minutes of screen time between ABC, CBS, and NBC the only media coverage of the March for Life was about a group of students that got stranded in a snowstorm on their way back home.

This year the march is predicted to have a record setting attendance and with the recent changes in government, we could see some real changes regarding abortion and Planned Parenthood. With a Republican controlled presidency, house, and senate, Trump has already made outspoken promises to defund such clinics. He has already halted the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” which will prevent American taxpayer dollars from reaching nongovernmental organizations in other countries that provide or promote abortions. With the changes in congress the media has absolutely no reason to ignore both sides of the issue, as this year the March for Life is more relevant than ever.

18 Things I Want To Do Now That I'm 18

I'm technically an adult, so I'm legally required to live a little, right?

For the entirety of my high school career, I was always seen as the goody-two-shoes. I never got in trouble with a teacher, I kept stellar grades, and when I wasn't doing extracurricular activities, I was at home studying. Even when I did go out, it was usually with a bunch of fellow band geeks. The night would end before 11:00 PM and the only controversial activity would be a fight based on who unfairly won a round of Apples-to-Apples when someone else clearly had a better card (I promise I'm not still holding a grudge).

Now that I'm officially an adult, I want to pursue some new things. I want to experience life in a way that I never allowed myself to do prior to entering college. These are the years that I'm supposed to embark on a journey of self-discovery, so what better way to do that than to create a bucket list?

I've been super busy lately with school work, studying, etc. Besides the fact that I do nothing but AP chemistry and AP economics, I constantly think of stupid questions that are almost impossible to answer. So, maybe you could answer them for me, and if not then we can both wonder what the answers to these 15 questions could be.
