Measures of Maturity

In This Article:

We are all getting older, but are we all getting more mature? Look around you. Do people your same age possess the level of maturity that you do? Below you will read how to measure your own maturity, to improve your ability to make good decisions and add more stability in your life. We could all use more of that, right? Say goodbye to bad relationships, friendships, uncertainty & wild nights that end miserably. Maturity allows you to be in control of your own life.

Maturity is when you are able to confidently walk away from people and situations that are a threat to your peace of mind.

Respect yourself enough to walk away from anyone or anything that no longer serves you or grows you.

Maturity is when you do not react to people lashing out.

Don't fight fire with fire.

Maturity is when you focus on the good in people.

Recognize positive character traits in people. Compliment them on their generosity, compassion, kindness, patience, honesty or fairness. When you take a moment to observe these, they will shine through in others.

Maturity is learning to let go and move on.

Not everything will work out the way we planned it to. These obstacles are shifting us in the right direction, they will put us on the path we are meant to be on. Let go of what was and look forward to what is coming.

Maturity is when you cease to attach happiness and fulfillment to material things.

Happiness is right in front of you. Your faith, family, friends. If you constantly seek happiness and fulfillment from material possessions, you will never be satisfied and will always be looking for the next best thing.

Maturity is when you stop trying to prove your worth to others.

Your purpose in life goes far beyond satisfying critics.

Maturity is when you stop trying to change others and focus on changing yourself.

We are ever-changing. We can always improve ourselves. Think about how much you could improve yourself if you spent the time that you do worrying about others and instead focus it onto yourself.

Maturity is when you have a lot to say,  but you choose to remain silent.

Remain silent in front of fools.

Maturity is when you stop comparing yourself to others.

Another person's beauty is not the absence of your own.

Maturity is when you are truly at peace with yourself.

Inner peace begins the moment you choose not to allow another person or event to control your emotions.

Maturity is when you stop seeking approval from others.

Be confident in your choices. Do not apologize for who you are. Develop a greater sense of self-worth. Trust yourself and learn to accept yourself for who you are.

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
