You may have heard the term "mom friend" thrown around, especially in college. But what does being the "mom friend," really mean?
Being the "mom friend," means you host a lot of make shift therapy sessions. Your friends come to you for advice, and it's not unusual for you to have a group therapy session where you are giving out loads of advice to your friends
Being the "mom friend," also means worrying endlessly. It isn't a surprise to find me waiting up for my room mate to come home (even if its 4 am).
You always want to make sure everyone is safe (and happy)!
It isn't uncommon for me to be woken in the middle of the night to go pick up one of my "children," who are lost on campus.
You also track EVERYONE. (Just for safety purposes).
You're always worried, and you can get a little bit naggy.
"Are you sad?" "Did you eat today?" "Did you do your home work?" "How did your test go?"
All in all, being the "mom friend," is an amazing person to be. People value and respect your opinion. It feels good to be taking care of people sometimes, especially when they're appreciative.
Being the "mom friend," for me is one of the most gratifying jobs I will have in my high school and college years.
