A Cinderella Story and Mean Girls: two movies that shaped every late 90s and early 2000s girls' dream guy and hope for a fairy tale ending. Mean Girls gave me unrealistic expectations of high school but is still on of the movies I can watch (and quote) over and over again. Both main guys are attractive in their own right and of course both (SPOILERS!) end up with the girl they should in the end (and interestingly both go to VERY good colleges too!). But which one is better? So, in honor of last week being the famous October 3rd and the new release of A Cinderella Story on Netflix, here's a short list explaining why even though Mean Girls will always be ironically hilarious, Austin Ames will always be better than Aaron Samuels.
1. Austin leaves the "queen bee" while Aaron must be stolen away.
You see, Cady has to manipulate Aaron away from Regina because he still finds her attractive. Instead, Austin walks away from his football career and his dad's dreams, all to be the person he wants to be with Sam.
2. Austin Ames writes poetry.
Okay so I hate to be the girl that gushes over the VERY attractive man writing heartfelt poetry but come on! Aaron Samuels is bad at math and can't even remember the date!
3. Aaron doesn't even notice Cady until she becomes plastic!
Okay so he says that she becomes fake and only really falls for her when she shows up to the Spring Fling in her Mathletes jacket and gives away her crown, the only interaction they really have is on October 3rd...
4. Austin totally lets Sam rip him a new one and accept that she is probably right about his behavior.
She totally needs a mic to drop after bravely delivering that speech in the boys' locker room, right?
5. Austin is ACTUALLY real-life Prince Charming
I mean, look at that face.
So, while I was totally and completely annoyed at the fact Austin totally missed who Sam was in the TINIEST MASK HUMANLY POSSIBLE and Mean Girls has way more quotable lines, he still is the prince every high schooler dreams about.
