As someone who is always on the go, whether it be to my internship, my job, or one of my classes; it can be tough to resist eating out. Meal prepping, however, can help with that problem. Here are some useful meal prepping tips and tricks.
1. LOTS of Containers
Always have plenty of food prep containers. The more the better. Either purchase glass or plastic, whatever you prefer. For a balanced meal.try to have at least 1 main item of protein.
2. Dedicate one day per week for prepping:
Make your meals on one day. Usually, when meal prepping, Sunday is my go-to day, because I don't have much of an agenda. I will do the shopping that day and then cook right after. I like to have a main veggie in every meal.
3. Making Flavorful meals is KEY:
Eating the same thing for a week straight can be boring. This is where investing in spices will be your best friend. Some of my saviors have been basil, cumin, and parsley.
Be sure to finish off the meal with a grain. For budget purposes, I will usually go for white or wheat rice, but quinoa is usually a healthier option.
Finally, after all, your meals are completed, know, that as an active person, do not solely rely on these meals. You need more nutrition than that so snack throughout the day to keep your metabolism going.
