5 Things I Want Vs. 5 Things My Inner Me Wants

You know what you should do, but your 'inner me' tells you the exact opposite.

1. Me: I need to save money. Inner me: Buy the food.

We are constantly telling ourselves to save our money. Spend it on important things. Or even save up over a few months. But what am I doing after a night out or when I'm bored? Throwing cash around like it's confetti. I know I should probably save the money I spend on Little Italy, Domino's or messy fries, but my inner me always says... Spend it.

2. Me: I am going to work out. Inner Me: Take a nap.

Let's be honest. We all are either gaining the freshman 15, or we already have. Soon we realize, "Dang, I need to workout." I make goals to work out every day each week. Does this always work? No... I try to go to Indoor Cycle or Hardcore, but sometimes I am just too tired. So what does my inner me tell me?? Take a nap.

3. Me: Has piles of homework. Inner me: Watch Netflix.

Oh, I just have a 15-page paper, 2 exams, and a 400-page book I have to read by tomorrow. What do I do instead? I take a nap. I get on Instagram, Twitter, Snap Chat and then back to Instagram. I start...and finish a new show on Netflix. What do I not do? My 15-page paper, 2 exams or read the 400-page book.

4. Me: He/She is a player. Inner me: Fall for them.

The boy/girl your'e talking to is super attractive and really fun. They always make you laugh and smile. But they also make other boys/girls laugh and smile. You know they are a huge player, but what the heck? Fall for them!

5. Me: Don't do it. Inner me: Do it.

It's always the smallest things that you know you probably shouldn't do. What do we end up doing anyways?? Doing what we told ourselves not to. 9/10 times this is the case.

Inner me made me do it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
