If you've been looking for a new, exciting dessert to try this season, you'll be excited to hear that McDonald's is releasing a limited-edition McFlurry!
Yes, McDonald's is releasing a McFlurry that is Saint Patrick's Day-themed (seems like they've decided to pass on Valentine's Day this year, and we're not mad about it).
But don't worry, Mcdonald's original Shamrock Shake that was a fan-favorite for St. Patricks day is also expected to return to stores!
According to Popsugar, both the new dessert and the original fan favorite will be available for purchase at a McDonald's near you starting on February 19.
The new McFlurry flavor will combine Oreo pieces with soft serve and Shamrock Shake flavor to make a crunchy and sweet dessert!
The returning fan-favorite Shamrock Shake, on the other hand, is made with vanilla soft serve, minty flavor, and whipped topping.
According to Fox News the Shamrock Shake was actually first created in 1967 by the owner of McDonald's to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It's one of the most popular holiday-themed desserts McDonald's has ever released! It's amazing to get the Shamrock Shake back but it's even better that we'll also have a new dessert to enjoy.
The addition of the new McDonald's St. Paddy's Day dessert is pretty big considering that the fast-food giant has never strayed from their original Shamrock Shake flavor. For them to release a new dessert with a similar flavor but with a twist is pretty monumental!
But why, might you ask, is McDonald's choosing now to release two desserts for St. Patrick's Day? Because it's the Shamrock Shake's 50th anniversary! The fact that the drink has been a fan favorite for so many years really proves its flavor is one of a kind.
I don't know about you, but I've always LOVED mint Oreos, so having a dessert that combines a mint flavor with Oreos is a must for me. Of course, not everyone likes mint Oreos, but in my family, disliking them was never an option. They were a huge childhood favorite dessert for me that I found even better than classic Oreos!
(Yes, I just said that as a kid I liked mint Oreos better than classic Oreos. Sue me!)
Everyone knows that McFlurries are one of the best things you can get at McDonald's. But if you've had enough of them, you can eventually become bored with the classic flavors. Enter the new Shamrock Oreo McFlurry to solve all of your problems.
Sadly, this relief won't last for long, since the Shamrock Shake dessert typically stops being sold following St. Patrick's Day.
But luckily, both Shamrock Shakes will be released a month before St. Patrick's Day, giving us plenty of time to enjoy them before we have to wave goodbye again.
Now, if you need me, I will be in the drive-in at McDonald's getting my Shamrock Oreo McFlurry!
