MCCB in Electrical: Types, Ratings and Working Principle

Introduction:

What is mccb? Do you know about mccb? What is it's role in our daily life? Why we use it? From where we can buy it? It is expensive? For what mccb stand? If you don't know the answer of these questions it's not a big deal after reading this article you will be able to answer all these questions.

What is MCCB?

Mccb stand for molded case circuit breaker.in science terminology is very common and this is also application of science in this way if we put our little consideration on the mccb word we can make its definition very easily.as it indicates it will break circuit when there is molded current or loaded current or increase current. Now we can define mccb as:

"It is a safety device which protects our electrical appliances when there is overloaded current"

Function:

Everything in this world has it function mccb has following function:

1_It protects appliances from overloaded current.

2_It breaks circuit when there is short circuit in circuit.

3_When the circuit break the overloaded current will not pass from circuit and then to our appliances, in this way our appliances will remain safe.

Mccb rating:

In many rating mccb are available in market .minimum rating mccb is available from hundred ampere to thousands ampere (100A to1000A). Usually from 100 A to 2000A are available.

Why we use MCCB?

We use it for following Reasons:

1_We use it because its rating is more than any other devices.

2_As it can measure current up to thousands ampere.

3_It can control high current up to 2000A.

4_It can adjust its value of current.

5_It has reset button from which it can be reset, it also has test button which can use to test device or overloaded current.

6_We use it due to its protection feature it protects our electrical appliances which we need in our daily life and which are very expensive like refrigerators ,iron etc. mccb full form in electrical

How MCCB work?

First we try to understand its working by simple method. MCCB has a switch when current exceed from its limited value (for example we say this circuit can measure current up to just 90A and when current reached to 100A it means it exceed over limited value of circuit).it sense by switch and switch trip or turn and break circuit .when the circuit break it cannot pass from our appliances and our wish to safe our appliances will fulfill.

Types of MCCB

MCCB has different types on basis of some important features. We always classify something on the basis of some important features.

On the basis of pole:

1_2_pole (supply phase and neutral phase)

On the basis of principle:

There are basically three principle on which mccb work and switch trip.so now if we want to classify mccb on the basis of principle there are three types of MCCB:_

1_Thermal and magnetic release MCCB

2_Microprocessor release MCCB

Thermal magnetic release MCCB:

It is mccb which work on basically thermal and magnetic principle and these two principles are studied in thermodynamics and mechanics.

Construction:

It has following components:_

1__Incoming or supply phase

2_Contact lever

3_Solenoid (magnetic)

4_Trip bar

5_Plygar

6_Bimetallic strip (when two metals are joined)

7_Load means bulb row other thing.

8_Neutral phase

Working:

During normal condition:

Current pass from supply phase to contact lever to solenoid to planar to bimetallic strip and then to bulb and bulb began to glow and leave through neutral phase.

During overloaded current:

When current is slowly increasing it will pass from supply phase to contact lever to solenoid to bimetallic strip and heat it metals will expand and turn and this strip got separated from contact lever hence current will not pass to bulb and bulb remain safe.

When will be thermal principle occur and when will be magnetic principle?

When current is slowly increasing it will be controlled by thermal process.

And when suddenly current increase than magnetic principle

Current will pass from solenoid as solenoid is magnetic it will start to produce magnetic field which attracts pillar so separation and gape will happen in between bimetallic strip and solenoid and current will not pass from bulb in this way it will protects.

Advantages of this principle:

1_It is very cheap and everyone can afford it very easily.

Disadvantages of this principle:

It is less flexible and accurate.

As road is not always smooth but also rough and has dumps too like this principle has advantages and disadvantages too.

Microprocessor release MCCB:

It is very easy and simple to understand just like table of 2 which is very easy that every student has its own his fingertips.in this nothing will occur. We have to do nothing with it and not need to use our brain it will work own self.

Working:

It monitors current and make its normal value and high value.

How it monitor?

It monitors just like us as we monitor thing and person on what time this person go outside and on what time he comes back to home.as like this mccb monitor current for example for 10 minutes and note during monitoring that in 9 minutes current flow in 5A and in 1 minutes current flow in 8A,so when current going to increase it will disconnect circut.

Advantages:

It is very accurate and flexible.

Disadvantages:

It is very expensive

Application:

It has application in following:

Domestic load

Industrial load

Factor load etc.

Conclusion:

By discussing all about MCCB we can conclude very important point from this article that we should purchase mccb from bazar as soon as possible and fixed it in our homes to safe our expensive home appliances as it is very important safety device .I hope you with like it try my best to convey this article in very easy and simple language.
