To Whom It May Concern,
This is a thank you letter from me to you. It is one that is as sincere as it can possibly be. It is one that I hope that you take to heart because I mean every word that I am about to say.
I would like to thank you for coming into my life like any other ordinary person, even though you ended up being anything but ordinary. I would like to thank you for talking to me, making me laugh, and being a friend to me. I would like to thank you for seeing when I was upset and for seeing when I was worried about something, as that isn't something that most people are able to catch on to very quickly with me. I do my best to be as positive as possible.
I would like to thank you for all of the times when you let me talk and you just decided to listen. Thank you for really listening. I talk a lot and, for some, that isn't something that they may want to deal with. Thank you for listening to me and I say that again because you remember things about me or things I have said to you and that is important to me. You even remember about things as stupid as the fact that I really hate macaroni and cheese and that I love the game of basketball more than I love ice cream on hot summer days (even though ice cream is a close second), just as examples.
I would like to say thank you for being my friend in the times when it was hard to be. Thank you for being my friend when things weren't working, we hadn't talked a lot, and I thought that maybe we weren't even friends anymore.
I would like to thank you for forgiving me and for forgiving yourself when things happened.
I would like to thank you for never expecting me to be perfect and for always making me feel like a person who is worthy of appreciation, love, success, and achievement. I would like to thank you for being more concerned about my happiness and laughter than anything else other than making sure that I drive safely and don't get hit by cars.
I'd like to thank you for being someone who I can turn to when I need a laugh, a little bit of peace and quiet, or a good song to listen to.
I would like to thank you for calming the waters that exist between my ears with fewer words than are in a 2-year-old's vocabulary.
I would like to thank you for being you. By being you, as chaotic, messy, and ordinary as you feel sometimes, you have helped me become a better me each and every day that I've known you.
Thank you for all of this and then some,
Me
This letter, for me, is written for a few significant people in my life. With that said, this letter is also for anyone out there to repost and use to thank the people (or the person) in their life who have helped them become the person who they are because they were just themselves. I feel like that is something that we all forget to do, just be ourselves. We are too busy trying to fit molds, stereotypes, or the type of person who we feel like we should be that we just forget to be who we are. It's a struggle for us all to some degree because we think about what if who we are isn't someone who others like? Someone will like who you are. Someone will love who you are. Someone will respect who you are.
Someone will be forever changed because of who you are.
