Get Out & Go Live Anywhere

The 'lazy' excuse can't always be your anthem.

It’s so tempting to lay around in your oh so comfortable bed, but at the end of the day, you may regret the lack of productivity. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy the days I can binge on endless Netflix shows and movies, but after awhile, it can make you restless. Going out and exploring the sites around you can activate and engage your mind more than sitting at home ever will.

You don’t want the majority of your life spent watching TV shows. You may have been told, “Travel the world, see amazing things, and meet new people," but by now, you’ve figured out it’s easier to see the world on your TV. It’s not the same - not even close. This can go both good ways and bad. For example, if you’ve ever seen the streets of New York in the movies and then ventured out to the city, you will realize its depiction is not as glamorous as it appears on Hollywood. First of all, the city can smell kind of smelly. Second, it’s far bigger than just a point on a map.

Now, New York City is not far from me, so I can easily take a day trip to the big apple. Do you live fairly close to a famous landmark or place? Go visit it. By the time you finish binge-watching that new TV series, you could have spent a full day learning something new about a place and even yourself. If you liked your trip particularly well, you could even plan better for the next time you visit - now you are familiarized with this new place of interest.

You don't have to wake up at the crack of dawn to go on an adventure either. Sleeping in can be one of the best parts of a day off. I guess I am saying - don't sleep your day away. The morning is one of the most peaceful times of the day. Starting the day a little earlier can lead to a relaxing day. For example, you do not have to weigh out whether being late is worth grabbing a cup of coffee. You can even stay in your underwear and plan your eventful day to come.

A lackadaisical start to the day DOES NOT have to dictate the entire day. Have your coffee with a decent breakfast, read a chapter of your book, listen to some music, and take a shower. While you’re in the shower, think about something you’d like do, see, or accomplish that day. When you get out of the shower, start planning your amazing day. Getting dressed and ready to go somewhere - even if you don’t have to, can help you have a productive and meaningful day. Whether you have a day off coming up or are bored out of your mind - planning the events of your day can have several positive benefits. The whole world is waiting - don't just lay around all day!

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!

RBF, or resting b*tch face, is a serious condition that many people suffer from worldwide. Suffers are often bombarded with daily questions such as "Are you OK?" and "Why are you so mad?" If you have RBF, you've probably had numerous people tell you to "just smile!"
