I'm going to be completely honest here: I spend most lectures doodling. I still catch all the notes and necessary content, but my mind is always in a million different places at once.
Most, if not all, of my school notebooks are less like a notebook and more like a sketchbook with the occasional bullet point here or there. To many teacher's dismay, I know I'm not the only one in school who can say this. So, because I was curious, I asked my friends how often they doodle during class.
Answers ranged from "Dude, I would never; doodles and drawings would clog up the page!" to "Duh, of course I do, who doesn't?" More often than not, friends would say the latter. I had a few friends send me of their doodles and these are some of my favorites:
Sure, math is important, but c'mon, that shark is so dope. Kaylin, this is true art, 10/10.
I mean, it's difficult to follow up that shark, but this might be a close second. In all seriousness, my best friend, Hanna Clark, is an amazing artist and her style is incredible.
Debate doodles! My teammate, Cori, draws the cutest robots and animals. She drew her teddy bear, Pluto, at the bottom.
My friend and coworker, Fatima, pairs her doodles with words. I love that her doodles are a glimpse into her mind.
And here are my doodles. See, told you I take notes! They're barely in the shot, but I promise they're there. Atomic theory, business writing strategies, rhetorical devices, and a couple quick sketches here and there.
While I should probably doodle less, I'm probably never going to stop because let's face it, I'm addicted. But hey, at least I'm not alone.
