Psalm 139:10 – "Even there shall thy hand lead me, and thy right hand shall hold me."
Our lives are filled with fragments and pieces – seasons and times where our hearts yearned to be better. We wanted to grow, but it took everything in us to get out of bed in the morning. I want to talk about all seasons: periods in our lives where there was growth and periods where there was sorrow. Seasons can bring about many things in our hearts that are disheartening. Some things we deal with in these seasons are discouragement, loneliness, and periodic feelings of hope and joy.
Seasons of discouragement and loneliness seem to always come about in the most unlikely ways. We go from feeling strong and confident some days, and then we fall into the trap of comparison, which leads us to discouragement and loneliness. Comparison is a killer. It steals what joy and hope we have and disrupts our faith in God. When we feel discouragement and loneliness, we must always remember the above words from Psalm 139:10. God is always with us in these moments. He goes before us and carries us through. Discouragement, loneliness, and comparison are traps of the enemy. We must remember that what is around us is not Who is inside us.
Also, in these seasons, we can experience moments of hope and joy. I believe that in these moments, God is reminding us of what we were meant to experience. He is telling us that joy and hope are supposed to be constant in our lives. They are not meant to fluctuate during difficult periods. They are not meant to be periodic, but everlasting.
God is everlasting, and joy and hope are meant to be the same for us because these attributes are attributes of God as well. So today, sons and daughters, if you are going through comparison, discouragement, and loneliness, look up to the One whose hands lead you. Trust that His right hand holds you, even in your personal struggles. We are masterpieces in and out of all seasons.
