We have five senses. Fact. When interacting with other people, you tend to use all of them to a degree. Fact. In close encounters, you use three more than the others. Fact. But there is one that is underrated around the world for its impact and power: smell. Fact.
Did you know that the sense of smell is the one linked most closely with memory and is often times the most sensitive as it is linked with several of your other senses? Think about it, when you smell something, apple pie for example, you can taste it, and sometimes even feel its warmth. One whiff of anything can send your brain spiraling deep back to one specific thought or memory. So why not become that trigger?
Men and women often underestimate the power that their smell holds over the opposite sex. Pheromones, a powerful sex chemical, are activated through the sense of smell. But when paired with other scents, they can become a flooding force, immersing the target in a sea of feeling and emotion.
But how can we as guys take advantage of “nature's dating service" and use it to our advantage? Simple. By learning how these smells work, what works with them, and what works for us.
Every person has their own personal “smell," and everyone's is a little different than the rest. That's nature. To that same degree, nobody meshes the same way with other chemicals (or colognes). It's like a puzzle. Every guy has different pieces (scents) that match or don't with other pieces (colognes, body sprays, deodorants) to make a bigger picture that will either look better with both pieces together, or a little off when the pieces don't match. Everyone wants to match with everything and smell great; unfortunately that's just not the case.
But fear not, gents! There is still hope. Once you do find the right type of piece to match with your puzzle, there are hundreds to choose from. For the most part, guys use different smelling agents for one of two reasons: to mask a bad smell, or to enhance a good smell.
The first is obvious. If you smell like a dirty gym sock, get some deodorant and use some body wash. Not too much science involved, just pick a smell that fits you and lather up.
The second is where cologne comes into play. The type of cologne you use should be one that will compliment your other smells (shampoo, body wash, deodorant, etc.) Make it one that not only suits your personality, but won't compete against anything else. At the same time, it shouldn't be so dominant that people can smell you from blocks down the street. You don't want to be that guy in the elevator causing everyone else to tear up from your overpowering smell. Not sexy. The key is subtlety.
When applying cologne, you never want to apply it directly to the area where it will be utilized. For instance, don't just douse your neck in as many sprays of your favorite cologne as your finger can handle. You want to dilute and spread it over a wider area. Instead, spray it in the air just in front of you then walk into the mist, or apply it to your wrists and rub it on your neck. Even though you won't be able to smell it on yourself shortly after, everyone you approach will definitely turn their heads in search of the aromatic change in the air. When used to the right degree, the proper amount of cologne can actually strengthen the effects of a man's pheromones, making you irresistible to any and all women that catch a whiff of you.
Guys, this puzzle isn't a hard one, but it's definitely one that will come in handy for years to come once solved. But the only way to solve it is with a little trial and error. You could be more the musky type, or you could prefer a lighter, maybe even semi-sweet cologne. No matter what matching scent you choose to go with, just know it could turn you into a Venus fly trap, with the women of the world being the unsuspecting flies. But is that really a bad thing?
