Many people take pride in having several friends. Don't get me wrong, I love having multiple friends. However, there's something about having that one person in your life who you can call your best friend. This person makes your life better in so many ways. They are someone you can always depend on. You look out for each other. You have inside jokes that have gone on for years. You push each other to believe in yourselves. This person, for me, is my best friend Mary, and this letter is for her.
Mary,
I'm so glad that God put us in each other's lives in 7th grade, and I've had the best time ever since. You've accepted my shy personality, and I am so grateful for that. I've always thought that people wouldn't really want to take the time to get to know me because I am pretty quiet, but you accepting me for me has definitely helped me to grow and believe in myself.
Thank you for helping me create some of my favorite memories. From all of our sleepovers to Facetime calls that consist mainly of uncontrollable laughter, we have the best time! You always work hard to bring us together (even with our busy schedules and going to different schools). I think my favorite memories from the last 8 years come from our late night movie trips. Going to the movies is super casual, but we somehow make it one of the funniest occasions.
I am so grateful to have a best friend who inspires me. You are incredibly influential and encouraging. Your determination to educate others on important topics like politics and mental health makes me so proud to call you my best friend. I am constantly learning so much from you. You put your heart and soul into everything you do. You put others before yourself constantly. You are talented in so many ways, and I cannot wait to see how you use your talents in the future.
I can't imagine not having you as my best friend! I know I can always count on you to lift my spirits and push me to live my life to the fullest. I can't thank you enough for you just being you. You're the absolute best.
Love,
Shalise
