Marvel: What Fans Can Expect At Comic Con 2016

Fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe are sure to have plenty to talk about following Saturday, July 23. That is the day Marvel Studios will be making their big presentation at Comic Con 2016. And that means, some new stuff about Marvel films that everyone can talk about.

So that begs the question, what exactly will Marvel reveal? Well, with a film coming out in November, another that has finished filming, two more in production and a key character yet to be cast, the possibilities are endless. So there are plenty of material and films to cover, and that is before even thinking about the ultimate climax the universe is headed for, the Infinity Wars.

So let's get right down to it -- here are some things fans can expect to hear during Comic Con 2016, all of which will surely get fans talking.

A "Doctor Strange" trailer

To date we have only gotten one trailer for "Doctor Strange," which will be the next installment in the MCU. It is set to hit theaters November 4, 2016, meaning it still has a few months before fans get to enjoy it. To date, there is still very little known about the film.

So this would be the perfect time to give the fans another taste of what they can expect. The first trailer dropped months ago, and there is still enough time to release a third one if they decided to after Comic Con. But bottom line is, this is the ideal time for a new trailer.

This is a virtual lock. Not promoting the next film would make no sense whatssoever. A new trailer would get fans talking about the film, and it would also allow for it to be shown before DC's "Suicide Squad" in August. The time is now for a new trailer, so keep an eye out for new shots of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange.

A clip from "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2"

"Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2" has recently finished filming. This means there is plenty of footage of Star Lord, Gamora, Drax and the gang doing what they do best. But it's still in its early days of adding in visual effects, so a full-blown trailer may be out of the question.

Rocket and Groot will need a lot done with visual effects, so a clip with either of them is no guarantee either. But with a whole movie filmed, there will be plenty of scenes to pick from that can be shown. A quick glimpse of Chris Pratt interacting with Kurt Russell's character could give a tease of what we can expect.

Throw in an intro that has a song from the film, and fans will get pumped as soon as they hear any sort of tune. The scene does not need to be heavy on the plot, but something quick and funny just to give the fans a small taste. A trailer will likely drop in November with the release of "Doctor Strange," so no need to have it come now, especially if we get one for "Doctor Strange." But we should get some sort of snippet, as it will be the first of three films to be released in 2017.

A "Captain Marvel" Casting Announcement

"Captain Marvel" is not set to hit theaters until early 2019, so why on earth would they cast her character now in 2016? Well, rumors have been flying about casting for a while now, and it's very possible the character appears in a film or two before getting her own solo film.

It is possible that she will be appearing in the first "Infinity War" film. If that is the case, the casting needs to be done soon, as filming for that film will begin November of this year. If that is the case, announcing the casting at Comic Con 2016 is the best route for Marvel to take.

Brie Larson is the current favorite to land the role. She seems like the perfect fit for the MCU, as she has the ability to bring the right amount of humor to the character, which is a given for almost every Marvel character. If Larson does not land the role, and an unexpected name is revealed, it would really have fans talking.

Something Spider-Man or Thor-related

Both "Spider-Man: Homecoming" and "Thor: Ragnorak" are both currently filming. With that said, there is sure to be plenty of buzz around each film. Not much is known about either film, so revealing any piece of information will get the media buzzing.

Maybe we get another casting announcement for the Spidey film. To date, no actor has been cast in the role of J. Jonah Jameson. We do not have a Mary-Jane or Gwen Stacy yet, although some fans are speculating Zendaya, whose character is currently listed as Michelle, could very well be one of Spidey's iconic girlfriends.

Or how about a look at some of the new characters in Thor? Cate Blanchett will be playing the film's main villain, Hela. Maybe she takes the stage in costume? Or maybe Karl Urban as Skurge, or Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster.

There are countless possibilities with these two films. And since both are currently filming, something related to at least one of them is a pretty good bet.

Renaming of the "Infinity War" films

It has been known for a while now that Marvel will be renaming the two "Infinity War" films. With them scheduled to start production later this year, the name change has to be coming soon.

Once again, this is the perfect stage for such an announcement. A new title could give fans a slight glimpse into what they could expect from the two-part film. Maybe bring in Josh Brolin to make the announcement.

It would not be the most exciting piece of news given all of the possibilities, but it is one of the biggest. It would have a lasting impact, as it will be the name that follows the film forever going forward. It's something Marvel would certainly build up and make a big deal out of.

Partnership with Fox?

Now this may be a long shot, but it needs to be included. Marvel was able to make a deal with Sony to share the rights to Spider-man and use him in the MCU. So could the same be on the horizon with Fox to share the X-Men or more likely the Fantastic Four?

The Fantastic Four are in desperate need of help. The latest installment was a total disaster at the box office, and could greatly benefit by coming over to the MCU. So could Comic-Con 2016 be the place where a deal is finally announced?

Marvel would benefit by getting to use more of its characters. However, I do not see this as a must for them. They would likely have to go through the process of re-casting all of the character, especially since the actor who plays the Human Torch, Michael B. Jordan has been cast in the Black Panther film already. I highly doubt he would be pulling double duty in the MCU.

But the bottom-line is, this is too big of a potential announcement to be ignored. Bringing home some of Marvel's most iconic characters is no given, but certainly not out of the realm of possibilities.

There will be plenty to talk about.

So there you have it. These are five major announcements Marvel fans should be on the lookout for during Comic Con 2016. While we may not get all of them, at least three of them should be revealed this week.

One thing is for certain, however, and that is the fact that there will be plenty to talk about. This is the biggest platform of the year for Marvel to release news, and they will surely want to release something big to get fans talking about Marvel since most of the talk is around DC property "Suicide Squad," which is set to be released August 5.

But Marvel is the king of the comic book movie world, and that is not going to change no matter how awesome "Suicide Squad" is. At the end of Comic Con 2016, fans will once again be reminded of that.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
