Obama continues his environmental success! Just last week, the Obama Administration has just protected the Atlantic Oceans until 2022. The plan was announced this past week and bans oil exploration in the Atlantic, which is a major victory for marine life. Many dolphins, whales, and other animals will be saved from oil companies drilling in the Atlantic. The landmark decision by the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management has now given protection to delicate animal life and ecosystems that protect our delicate world. The use of oil exploration is highly controversial because many oil companies use seismic powered tools to determine where oil is located. The problem with these seismic tools is that animals are often harmed when oil companies are exploring the sea floor for oil. For example, many whales and other mammals are harmed with seismic airguns. The harm can come in the forms of hearing loss and disruptive normal behavior patterns. Some of these behavior patterns include, feeding, breeding, an even communication vocalizations between mammals. Moreover, oil drilling in the ocean has had many negative effects on the environment and can cause the destruction of not only sea life, but the ocean itself. I' m very happy to see that the beginning of 2017 is turning out to be out a great year for the environment and the animals in that encompass it.
In looking at the many species that are increasingly becoming endangered for the future, it's great to see that President Obama has been proactive in protecting many animals from facing certain extinction. Furthermore, whales have been somewhat under the radar, but are increasingly becoming the topic of discussion as of late. This is because many of these giant animals have been showing up dead on the shores of beaches. These enormous animals have been thrusting themselves on the shores of beaches because of seismic testing. The seismic horns have literally been hurting the whales ears and many whales can no longer stay in the ocean because of this. Their only relief is to thrust themselves upon the shore. Unfortunately, these beautiful animals die a painful death because they so desperately want to be free from the pain that the seismic testing causes. I'm very glad that these gentle giants and many other animals of the sea are now being prioritized from the U.S. government from such harmful seismic testing practices. I have so much hope for the environment and for our future, I can only hope that the government continues to care for animal welfare and habitat protection.
