If you know me you would already know how huge of a fan I am of Margot Robbie. She is my idol when it comes to acting and I aspire to be like her one day.
I’ve always loved the Oscars, however this year I’ve come to love it even more. Margot Robbie was just nominated for her first Academy Award (and I truly think this won’t be the last time she gets nominated). I’ve been following Margot for a while now and I think that why seeing her nominated has brought me so much more joy than most.
She started out her career like anyone else, local students films and indie movies. It wasn’t until 2013 when she really got her shot in The Wolf Of Wall Street. Her talent was overlooked by her physical appearance. Many argued she was only cast because she was a “hot skinny blonde.”
Margot proved everyone wrong this year when she starred in and produced I, Tonya. The performance she gave was truly jaw-dropping and showcased the talent I have been seeing since the start.
For this role she would listen to audio of Tonya Harding talk and would make herself talk like her on a daily basis. She trained vigorously as an ice skater and even suffered from a herniated disk during her training. She put hours and hours into this character off screen so when she was on screen we believed every word she was saying.
I am so happy to be able to see one of my favorite actresses ever evolve and finally get the recognition she deserves. No matter who wins that Oscar, Margot is proving to the world just how talented she is.
