IT HAS RETURNED.
The NCAA basketball gods have bestowed on us yet another year of upsets, buzzer-beaters and fantastic signs and we should be nothing but grateful.
Here are some things to watch out for during the best month of the year:
1. WIN/LOSS COLUMN
It's always fun to check out who has lost to whom, and the team at the top of this list to look at must be Gonzaga. With only one loss to BYU, the Zags are the West Coast Conference favorite and should keep their No. 4 ranking heading into seeding Sunday. Kansas,
2. ENTERTAINMENT
If you've been paying attention to college basketball at all, the names Malik Monk, Frank Mason III and Lonzo Ball should at least ring a bell. Monk, yet another Kentucky freshman phenom who averages just over 21 points, brings the show every game even if the Wildcats' record doesn't show it. Mason just put on a show in Stillwater, as Kansas took down rival Oklahoma State- a place where the Jayhawks haven't had much luck over the past several years. Ball, whose recognition may or may not come as second to his younger, high-school age brothers, takes Hollywood to heart every time he steps under the spotlight. He may not be in every headline, but the work shows in UCLA's record and No. 3 ranking.
3. WISCONSIN
So yeah, Frank Kaminsky and Sam Dekker have moved on to the NBA, but the Badgers still have fun and they deserve their own point. Nigel Hayes, most notable for his goofy antics around the two alums during last year's tournament, has solidified his role as a double threat, banging around inside and stepping outside to drain the three. When the time comes for a must-have three, Bronson Koenig fills the go-to role, though he has struggled from his habitiat beyond the arc as of late. Last but definitely not least, Player of the Year candidate Ethan Happ drives the Badgers quietly yet efficiently. Happ leads the team in blocked shots and scoring and I'm not sure that I've ever seen him relax.
Also, I believe Wisconsin is the Spurs of college basketball.
4. FANATICS
...I'll just let this one speak for itself
Anyway, what's not to love about March Madness?
