March Is For Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month
Love Dexter

As you all know, I have Cerebral Palsy. I would like to bring awareness regarding this, as March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month. This poem below is for all my friends with Cerebral Palsy as well as other disabilities. I hope you enjoy it.

"Palsy"

I was born

With a part of me I didn’t ask for

Palsy as it was called

It made things harder for me to do

And so I had to work so it wouldn’t make me blue.

People saw and made assumptions

That I knew were untrue

They thought it defined me,

But I knew it could never be.

Palsy often made me cry

And wish for something other than

But I realized it was because of the people

The people that wanted the norm.

They didn’t appreciate the difference

The diversity it could bring

Because to be honest, the world is too boring

To just remain the same.

And so I let my tears dry

And asked myself,

Why should I despise this?

For it was a friend that stood by my side

That helped me to fly, fly, and fly

Palsy was strength

Palsy was a teacher

Palsy was compassion

It made me believe

To exceed

It let me live to be me

To be an individual

And most of all,

To become a warrior.

Remember to wear green on March 25. Please continue to spread awareness of Cerebral Palsy, as well as other disabilities.

Thank You.

7 Ways to Make Your Language More Transgender and Nonbinary Inclusive

With more people becoming aware of transgender and non-binary people, there have been a lot of questions circulating online and elsewhere about how to be more inclusive. Language is very important in making a space safer for trans and non-binary individuals. With language, there is an established and built-in measure of whether a place could be safe or unsafe. If the wrong language is used, the place is unsafe and shows a lack of education on trans and non-binary issues. With the right language and education, there can be more safe spaces for trans and non-binary people to exist without feeling the need to hide their identities or feel threatened for merely existing.

singing
Cambio

Singing is something I do all day, every day. It doesn't matter where I am or who's around. If I feel like singing, I'm going to. It's probably annoying sometimes, but I don't care -- I love to sing! If I'm not singing, I'm probably humming, sometimes without even realizing it. So as someone who loves to sing, these are some of the feelings and thoughts I have probably almost every day.
