Spring breaks are just as diverse as the individuals who go on them. You have the:

  1. Go Big or Go Home: Parties on the beach, packing hotel rooms, and constant intake of fluids. Usual locations for these types of spring breaks are Cancun, PCB, and Fort Lauderdale. This type of break is great for letting go, having fun, and releasing some immaturity. Don’t forget to bring plenty of cash and your favorite bathing suit!
  2. Hibernation: These breakers spend a majority of their free time in bed catching up on the hours of sleep, missed during the school year and also probably spending quality time with their TV.
  3. Route 66: Road Trips. What else is more exciting than just hitting the road with a few friends with no plans in place? Car snacks and pillows are a must for this type of break.
  4. Money Maker: We all know how expensive the school year can get, so props to students who take the week to replenish their spending funds at work before heading back to school.
  5. Hometown Hangout: This type of break is basically a weeklong flashback. Popular activities include meeting up with all your high school friends and revisiting your old stomping grounds. This type of break is a great way to catch up with the people you may not have seen since high school graduation.
  6. Service: Two words, mission trip. This type of break is a little nicer on your pocket and leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy on the inside. Spending break helping others is perhaps the noblest of Spring Break pursuits.
  7. Family Reunion: Going back home, having your parents cook for you, and coming to the sudden realization that your parents are actually pretty cool. During this type of spring break, a friendship between you and your parents may start to form!
  8. Last Minute: The last minute is a result of cancelled plans and/or realizing that spring break is next week! Though little prep goes into these trips they tend to be the most fun. There is no stress to following a schedule, you have no set plans or expectations so there is a real "come what may" feel to it. Plus there is no disappointments if something doesn’t go to plan because there were no plans to begin with!

No matter which face your Spring Break will be wearing, stay safe and have fun!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.
