Dogs are surely an embodiment of the opening theme of friends, as they constantly showcase that they'll "be there for you." Day after day, articles are written about dogs saving their owners' lives, helping cure mental illnesses, and just in general, being able to do awesome, amazing things. If you're a dog owner, you know how much having a pet dog enhances your life. It's been shown that owning a dog may even increase your life by allowing you to have a healthier life. After all, you have to take your dog out and walk them, or even just playing with your pup can add exercise to your day! Dogs also make you live a happier life, as the amount of stress you are under decreases once you come home and see your doggo waggin' their tail, smiling happily at you. No matter what you go through, you'll always know that your dog will be there to brighten up your day. No discount to people who like cats or reptiles more than dogs, though!
People love dogs for a plethora of reasons. According to the AKC, the top three breeds as of 2018 are Labrador Retrievers, German Shepherds, and Golden Retrievers. While all dogs are great, it shouldn't be a question as to why these certain breeds constantly keep their position at the top of the ranks each and every year. These dogs all share one common trait: intelligence. This trait is one of the most searched for in finding an animal companion. All three of these dog breeds have constantly shown themselves to be amongst the most intelligent of dogs and are great family dogs. Even dogs that aren't always seen in the most positives of light (such as Pitbulls, Rottweilers, and Dobermans) are still wonderful dogs! The relationship humans have with dogs is hugely mutualistic, dogs make you happy, while your existence makes them happy.
In the wonderful words of Josh Billings, "A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself."
