Recently, many have started following the ideas behind "The Mandela Effect". The phenomenon is described as the misremembering of facts or events. The name originated from when people recall Nelson Mandela dying in prison in the 1980s, but Mandela actually died in 2013.
After this people started to recall other examples. One popular example is "The Berenstain/Berenstein Bears." Many recall the characters' names as the "Berenstein Bears," when actually the name was "Berenstain Bears."
Some have come out with evidence that the spelling was once "Berenstein Bears," with proof from memorabilia from the books and show.
The examples continued on with many recalling there was once 51 or 52 states.
Many recall the show "Sex in the City," but what many don't know is that the actual name is "Sex and the City." Fans started to become outraged because they had always remembered the show with "in" not "and."
A fan made a video with memorabilia with the show with proof the show was once named "Sex in the City."
One thing that shocked me was a quote from "Forrest Gump." The famous line "life is like a box of chocolates" is not what many people recall it to be.
Many recall the quote of "Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
The movie actually says "Mama always said Life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get."
Another shocking example of this phenomenon is in the Disney movie, "Sleeping Beauty".
As Maleficent steps in front of her mirror does she say, "Mirror Mirror on the wall who's the fairest of them all?" or "Magic Mirror on the wall who's the fairest of them all?"
It might shock you that Maleficent actually says "Magic Mirror on the wall".
Although these are just subtle changes in our lives, the phenomenon is shocking to some because they swear things were done differently. The Mandela Effect has many examples and there will probably be more in the future, but it is definitely an intriguing phenomenon.
