Let Malia Obama Be Her Age!

Let Malia Obama Be Her Age!

So as the Democratic National Convention was going on there was someone missing. No, it wasn't someone on television who believes republicans are devil majority of them who think like that were front row at the convention. But I digress. The person who was missing in action was none only than Malia Obama. The daughter of President of the United States and first lady Michelle Obama...I know what you are thinking:

1. Why is she not with her father and mother during a time like this?

2. Why Lollapalooza?

3. How old is she again?

Now, as Michelle and Barack were giving their epic speeches Malia was dancing around with her friends at Lollapalooza within her hometown of Chicago! First things first, she is 18, everyone, and just graduated from high school. Yes, I understand she lives in the White House with one of the most famous couples in the world. That does not mean she cannot go out and have fun! She still wants to live her teenage years, but the whole time while she was dancing around, secret service was right there, casually dressed in their plaid. So, at all times she was protected. So, that would be considered safe fun. I mean, let's be real here, the family has not had one scandal....let that sink in. Why is that? Because, the family actually lives their lives outside of the political stuff. I know some of you see it as an issue for Barack to be playing basketball or Michelle riding around in a car singing karaoke with Missy Elliot but what else are they supposed to do? They also want their down time just like normal people, which they are. Their status in life does not make them. It just adds to their daily regimen. Plus, the girl is going to Harvard and we all know how stuck up Harvard is. Let Malia be her age. Let her be young. Get over it. She was not sheltered like some of the other presidents daughters. I knew she was different when back in 2014 she went to the Chance the Rapper concert along with her dressing skills. (Which I approve of). At the end of the day Malia is going to be her age and live like it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

April Ludgate

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
