Malala Yousafzai was such a striking and amazing choice for Woman of the Year award.
Malala has spoken out for girls' education since she was a child. She gave a speech called, "How dare the Taliban take away my basic right to education?" in September of 2008. Malala also won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014, becoming the youngest person to ever win the Nobel Peace Prize. She was shot in the head by the Taliban in 2012 on her way home from school. She survived and continued fighting for girls' educatoin.
Malala Yousafzai is such an incredible person. She fights for what she believes in and does not give up.
Her words, "...I demand of world leaders we must invest in books not bullets," are so powerful. If we could put more money into education instead of wars, I truly believe that the world would be a better place.
Malala, you deserved the Woman of the Year award, and though you did not receive it, in my heart, you did. Thank you for everything you have fought for in the world.
