I realize that the majority of my content is about how to survive when you're pinching pennies but you're supposed to write what you know, right?
I've became pretty proud of how well I can stay with the times and feel up to date even though I don't have the most recent iPhone, new clothes and whatever else makes someone feel like they're cool.
(Side note: I hate how society makes us young-ins feel unaccepted if you don't have the newest trending clothes or technology or know the newest pop culture happenings. It's an impossible, never-ending, always-changing chase that too many people try to satisfy and it ends up leaving them miserable. Rant over.)
One talent of mine that I'm particularly proud of is my ability to create a trendy outfit from thrift-store finds. Check this out: I went into the store with an idea of what I wanted, and it took some time and lots of trying things on but I matched my idea almost to a T for $9!!! How cool is that?

Additionally, if you learn how to sew, even just a simple stitch, you can turn an outfit into something completely different than it originally was!Is it just me or does it seem like our peers are always going out to half-off apps at Applebee's or going to indulge in the local bar's specials? If you're like me, you just don't have the money to do that every week. But I've learned that that doesn't mean I can't come along! I'd love the company and water is free! ;) Plus, if your friends are nice they'll usually share a few bites of their appetizers or buy you a $1 double drink. Double plus, you still get that Instragram worthy picture even if you didn't spend money.

Balling on a budget can be a lot of fun if you're willing to think outside the box! I've been known to take a garage sale item or a thrifted treasure (yes, you can usually find me in a thrift store on the weekends), throw some spray paint on it or find a new purpose for it. My Pinterest DIY board is loaded. I like going through my parents garages and taking things that were theirs when they were my age and cleaning them up a bit, giving it new life. Completing DIY projects are so much fun, you usually learn a new skill and you have a conversation piece when your friends come over. You can create a great space that looks like it came out of a Target magazine. (Does Target even have magazines?)This cute wall decoration cost me $4! As far as keeping up on the latest technology…I'm not really sure what to tell you other than my iPhone 6 is still rockin'. It still takes pictures, sends texts and makes calls. I have the hip apps and don't feel like I'm missing out on anything except a more expensive phone bill every month, but I'd rather pass on that.
Bottom line is: Sometimes you have to make your own magic.
