Making Moments Matter

Never take a single moment for granted.

Lately, I have been thinking a lot about life and how quickly it can be taken away from us. It seems that everywhere I turn, a young person has left this earth too soon. They have lost their lives so suddenly and so tragically, and I find it hard to wrap my head around the concept of someone being here one minute and the next they are gone.

We all know that no one is promised tomorrow, but do we really understand the severity of that statement? Do we really understand that anything can happen in an instant and affect whether we will have a tomorrow or not? Are we making our moments matter? Are we making our mark and impact on the world?

These are questions that have been floating around in my head for the past few weeks. Am I making my moments matter? Am I telling the ones I love the most how much they mean to me? Am I making an impact on this world? This life we live is beautiful and in an instant, it can be gone. I think about those who have lost their lives so soon and won't get to experience things in life. I want to live my life to the fullest and make my moments matter. Not only for myself but for them as well.

I hope this article encourages you to make your moments in life matter. Don't be afraid to do things for certain reasons. Take that leap of faith and believe in yourself.

Tell those close to you that you love them.

Make them feel your love.

Don't take your moments in this life for granted.

Always be thankful for what you have and the capabilities that you have.

Know that you are loved, and make others around you feel that same love.

Don't spend your time tearing others down, but building them back up. Encourage one another and love one another. Choose joy and happiness each and every day.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
