Making Magic For Guests Of All Ages
Disney World

Nothing in the world compares to walking into Town Square, strolling down Main Street USA, and catching that first fabulous glimpse of Cinderella’s Castle. Whether you are five years old or 90, the magic created within not only the Magic Kingdom, but the entire Walt Disney World Resort is absolutely amazing. So what makes Walt Disney World this magical, and how do they keep guests coming back?

As soon as you walk into one of the four theme parks, one of the water parks, or one of the resorts, guests are greeted with something to satisfy all five of their senses. Catching that first glimpse of the Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, or Epcot makes you believe that you have truly entered another land. Each theme park has a certain look to provide the guests with a sneak peek of what their day will entail. The other four senses are awakened throughout the day as the guests smell the different scents and food of the park, taste that food later in the day, hear the sounds of the various animals, attractions, shows, or parades going on, and feeling the warmth of the Florida sun on their skin. Disney has a way of fully transporting guests into a world of magic and make believe, and they do that by utilizing the guest’s senses.

Upon entering these theme parks, guests are treated to world class attractions. These are found in the rides of each of the parks, the different shows provided throughout the resort, and the parades that march down Main Street each day. The rides at Disney are more than just an amusement park roller coaster, instead there is a story to follow it. In Space Mountain, you aren’t just on a track zooming through a building, instead, you are an astronaut traveling through space. Festival of Fantasy isn’t just a parade waltzing down Main Street USA , instead it’s all the Disney stories thatcome to life while you join in on the fun. These world class attractions make guests feel immersed in the Disney story, which leads to magical moments.

The one factor that keeps the Walt Disney World Resort running smoothly are its cast members. These people, young and old, work together to ensure that Disney continues to provide its guests with magical experiences all around. Cast members work the attractions, restaurants, entertainment facilities, custodial, resorts, and transportation facilities and throughout their day, they smile at as many guests as they can, do their best to call little girls "princess," and continue the Disney story until the day that the guest leaves. As Walt Disney said when he created Disneyland, “You can design and create, and build the most wonderful place in the world. But it takes people to make the dream a reality.” This is something that, as a former cast member, I appreciate about Disney. It is recognized that without all the people working there, the resort would be a much different place.

Disney is a magical getaway for guests of all ages, and looking at these three factors, you can easily tell why. Disney does its best to make sure that all guests are 100 percent satisfied with their vacation, they do this by immersing guests in the parks, providing world class attractions, and hiring cast members to make magic for all the guests.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week.
