Nine Reactions To My Study Abroad Trip As Told By The Cast Of '30 Rock'
SJMC

As summer is coming to a close, I wanted to reflect on the time I spent in Paris and London for my study abroad trip. I went on a Texas State University faculty-led program for the School of Journalism and Mass Communication, and although we were only there for two weeks, it was the best two weeks of my summer vacation. We started our days visiting professional businesses such as Agence France-Presse, Weber Shandwick and the BBC, and then we ended our days by exploring the cities on our own.

Here's a little of how the study abroad trip went (HINT: It went amazing!):

1. When you are so excited to go abroad!

I used to live overseas, so it kind of felt like I was going back home.

2. But the jet lag hits you when you first get there

Nine-hour plane ride and only one hour of sleep on the plane.

3. When you have that "Texas-friendly" personality, but Europeans aren't really used to it.

No, you can't go up to anyone and say "hello."

4. When we went on our business visits and saw the different international companies at work.

I hope they are hiring after graduation!

5. Hanging out with your friends/classmates after all your business visits for that day are over.

Turn up time!

6. Calling your parents because you spent so much money, so quickly.

I'm sorry but how many times can you say you shopped in Paris and London?! I guess I really didn't need to add more to my shoe collection.

7. Seeing all the beautiful sights such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Abbey Road (for my Beatles fans out there), Kensington Palace and Big Ben.

There were so many beautiful sights everywhere we looked.

8. Stuffing yourself with all the amazing food Paris and London had to offer.

I mean have you guys ever tasted an authentic French croissant?! They are so good! Also the French coffee and the British tea were legendary.

9. When you finally have to go to the airport to travel back home.

We did so much in those two weeks that time just flew by.

If you ever have the opportunity to study abroad, I would highly suggest it. You make great memories and make new friends to the point where you don't even really want to leave. Thank you SJMC for giving me such a great opportunity to study abroad and thank you to everyone who made the trip that much more enjoyable!

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
