College is a scary place and there are literally hundreds of people from different places. They all have their own unique story, different opinions and specific views on the world and how it works. Lastly, people are amazing if you get to know them.

1. Start a Conversation

There are plenty of ways to start a conversation! Compliments, Sports and Weather are three great seg-ways into longer conversations.

2. Introduce Yourself

Eye contact is great when you introducing yourself. Offering a warm yet firm handshake is also something that is vital when you meet new people. It shows that you genuinely want to meet them

3. Find Common Interest

Talking to people is easy once you find something you both are interested in! Music, Movies and Books are great topics when you start to make more friends. Avoid touchy subjects like politics or their opinions of the Kardashians.

4. Ask Questions

Asking questions is a great way to get to know people. Listing to their answers is also a really important part. You can ask all the questions you want, but if you turn the conversation back on yourself that's not a good way to meet new people.

5. Make Plans

There are so many events on and off campus that finding something to do with your new friend will be easy!

6. Exchange Social Media

You've hung out together, you have common interests and you know about their life it's now time to officially make them your friend, on social media that is. In today's digital age friending someone online is a "physical" symbol of friendship.

While making friends in college is super exciting it’s important to find a healthy balance between fun and studying. The people and relationships you make during your time in college can last a lifetime, make them count!

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.
