Makeup: The Unsung Art Form

How I believe that makeup is a form of art for a lot of people.

Makeup: The Unsung Art Form

There are a few controversial topics, among most generations, that can lead to feuds that are petty and can be solved with only a set of facts or settled over food. One such feud in this generation is about makeup, which has been a growing industry throughout the years and has become ultra popular within the last few years. This was one of the things I never got a handle on, nor was I ever interested in learning about, yet now more than ever does it seem to be an eye-catching practice. Women all over the world have picked up their brushes, tweezers, and foundations to create faces that can bring down kingdoms. The industry itself has grown exponentially as to specify what goes on a face, and, more specifically, what piece of the face it will highlight to the point of flawlessness, to make each person a portrait.

Within the last few years, even the last two years, makeup has been evolving to the point that tutorials are everything for the beginners, and Sephora is more popular than most clothing stores. Women, and even men, have been using makeup as an art form; creating and making faces for hours, making anyone jealous of their skills. Through these years, there have been parts of the face that have attracted more attention, becoming a trend, such as the eyebrows and cheekbones. People are putting emphasis on these features to show that they think these are their more noticeable parts. We all have parts of our body we are proud of, or should be proud of, and love to accent those parts by putting something on to put it on display. For some, those who are confident, they consider their faces to be their best feature and decide to paint them in a way that makes artists weep. I know I've been jealous of those who can blend as though there aren't sixteen products on their face, making it look natural and immaculate.

People should not put those who love to do makeup down and those who enjoy making themselves look like masterpieces. To become skilled in such a strange type of hobby is quite interesting when people are able to just make themselves become a new person. They are painters, sculptors, designers of their own bodies and can create the most wonderful artwork, just on their bodies. Makeup is also a big part of dressing up, especially for Halloween, when a painted face and a simple costume is something wonderful. This is why I feel makeup is a great form of art, especially for the individual who uses it as an escape and they feel beautiful because of it; that is true wonder.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
