Nowadays, it seems like there is hate for everything in the world. Racism, body shaming, recent political events, these are all so terrible and should not be happening but there is one thing I personally get shamed for quite a bit and I know I'm not the only one.

2016 has seemed to be the year of beauty and makeup. Every weird beauty hack and trend you could think of was invented. But something else that is very saddening also developed. That is makeup shaming. People who hate on others that wear makeup. Before I get into that, let me explain some of the reasons why us girls wear makeup.

1. Makeup makes us feel confident and powerful.

2. We can be creative any way we possibly want.

3. We can express ourselves through our makeup.

4. For some of us, it's the only "me time" we have.

5. It's fun.

6. It makes us happy!

Why should you shame and make fun of someone doing something that makes them feel confident? Or shame them for being happy?

"It isn't natural they are so fake". "She wears so much makeup she must be really ugly underneath it all"."She looks like a clown". "Take her swimming on the first date". These are only some of the many things that some of us makeup users hear on a regular basis. As do all types of shaming, this needs to stop. We shouldn't be shamed just because we express ourselves in a different way than them. Shaming someone that wears makeup is like shaming someone that makes art. This is where our creativity shines. The only difference between someone that wears makeup and an artist, is it is on a different canvas. Makeup is so much fun to experiment with and we can use as little or how much you would like.

This is who we are. We don't spend so much time to put on makeup to impress anyone, we do it for ourselves. To smile and feel beautiful. To feel like you can concur the world. No one deserves to be discriminated for being themselves.

So my words to those makeup haters out there, that's your choice to hate makeup. Let us make our choice to love it. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all. This is us and you can take it or leave it, but don't hate on it.

To the girls out there reading this that are like me and wear and love makeup, ignore the hate. Use your makeup to be you. Make that eyeliner sharp enough to kill. Make that highlighter bright enough so you can be mistaken for a star. Remember if someone wants to take you swimming, bring that setting spray girl and keep slaying. But most importantly, have fun with it.

As college students, we are all familiar with the horror show that is course registration week. Whether you are an incoming freshman or selecting classes for your last semester, I am certain that you can relate to how traumatic this can be.

1. When course schedules are released and you have a conflict between two required classes.

Bonus points if it is more than two.

Raising the minimum wage to a livable wage would not only benefit workers and their families, it would also have positive impacts on the economy and society. Studies have shown that by increasing the minimum wage, poverty and inequality can be reduced by enabling workers to meet their basic needs and reducing income disparities.

I come from a low-income family. A family, like many others in the United States, which has lived paycheck to paycheck. My family and other families in my community have been trying to make ends meet by living on the minimum wage. We are proof that it doesn't work.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.
