Because shopping for makeup is hard enough, am I right?

Makeup is too expensive for the risk you're taking. I hate it whenever I try on a new foundation and it doesn't match my skin tone or I buy a new eyeshadow palette and the shades are too dark and clash with my eyes. It's a long process anyone goes through when shopping for makeup. Luckily, over the years I have found some of the best products that I swear by, and some of these products came into my life by accident!

1. Nars Natural Radiant Longwear Foundation

I bought this foundation at the original Saks Fifth Avenue when I was traveling to New York for band and I only bought it at first because I wanted an original Saks Fifth Avenue shopping bag. I went to the Nars stand in the store and a woman did my makeup and tried this foundation on me and I was in love. It literally covers up even my toughest zits and scars and rarely wears down. I can count on only 2 pumps of this foundation to both cover my entire face AND last all day! It's magical! Also, the color fits so well with your natural skin tone that it's almost magical.

2. Urban Decay Perversion Mascara

I have been wearing this mascara ever since I was a sophomore in high school and I am now a sophomore in college, that is how good this mascara is. Ever since I have started wearing this mascara, I have had too many people come up and ask me if I wear false eyelashes, my lashes look that good when using this mascara. It lasts for a long time and it makes your lashes look thicker and fuller than ever! It's been my favorite for years and still, no other mascara has topped it!

3. Anastasia Beverly Hills Norvina Palette

I got this palette simply because of the gorgeous purples and pinks, but after I bought it, I ended up loving it so much that I use every color pretty much every day of the week. This palette looks great on any eye color (yes I have put it on some of my friends before and it looks fabulous on everyone) and it's super pigmented, so I have never had a problem when it comes to fallout!

4. Kylie Cosmetics Lip Kits

I'm a trumpet player in band and I have always struggled with lipsticks since I use my lips to play my instrument. I could never wear lipstick if I had a concert until I bought my first Kylie lip kit. Kylie Jenner's liquid lipsticks stay on your lips no matter what you throw its way. I started to wear these for ban concerts and other events because no matter what, the color and the lipstick looked just as new! It was a life-changing moment for me!

5. Laura Geller Baked Body Frosting

I was given this product for Christmas a few years ago and I have used this product consistently since! I like this product because, with a bigger brush, it can blend your foundation into your neck so your skin tone doesn't look uneven. Plus, this product comes in a giant size

I'll never forget the day that someone told me these words: "Madison, I think you're a good friend to everyone but yourself." I stood there completely in awe of that statement. Before that day, I never really thought about being a friend to myself, and at the time, I didn't really know what it meant. Now, I realize that you can't fully be there for other people unless you're there for yourself, too. You can't show up for others until you're willing to show up for yourself.
