I started wearing makeup in middle school -- quite badly, I might add. I knew the basics -- a little mascara here, some lip gloss there, but it wasn't until this year that I truly began to appreciate the art form. Makeup is much more than putting products on your face and calling it a day. It's a means of expression, a way to embrace creativity and show your own style. Whether or not you are "good" at it, here are are few things every makeup lover can relate to.

1. You've aimed for Kylie Jenner, but ended up looking more like Dr. Frank-n-Furter.

Because contouring is hard.

2. Well-done eyebrows kind of turn you on.

3. The struggle to get your cat-eye wings to match is real.

4. Sephora and Ultra are your ideas of what heaven must look like.

Until the cashier tells you what your total comes to, that is.

5. You've developed a girl crush before due to her makeup.

You want to become her friend just so she can teach you all her blending secrets.

6. Makeup isn't just for "girly-girls."

Dreaming of the day Ruby Rose comes and sweeps me off my feet.

7. In fact, you know that guys can wear make up too!

And will slay while doing so.

8. Nothing is antagonizing as waiting for a makeup restock.

Kylie Jenner lip kits, anyone?

9. You're beginning to look like a makeup brush hoarder.

Sorry, not sorry.

10. You've spent hours watching makeup tutorials, trying to get your contour just right.

And experienced a meltdown afterwards when you still couldn't do it.

11. Dark lipsticks aren't just for goths.

12. You've held off crying before due to your flawless makeup.

In the words of Adriana Lima, "I won't cry for you, my mascara is too expensive."

13. Any time you leave a makeup store, your hands always look like this.

14. You've learned that setting spray isn't a suggestion, but a necessity.

This is how I look by the end of the day when I forget to use setting spray.

15. Several bags are needed in order to contain your makeup collection.

16. You find it hard to contain yourself when someone says that lipstick and lip mat are essentially the same thing.

Because no, they really aren't.

17. One of the most beautiful things in the world to you is an untouched eye shadow palette.

(Tears up.)

18. You know all the drug store alternatives for you favorite designer brands.

Because paying $26 for lip-gloss isn't always feasible on a college student's budget.

19. Your role models include people like Kat Von D.

I would trust this woman with my life. In addition to being a flawless goddess, her makeup line is what dreams are made of.

20. You laugh when people say, "You wear too much makeup."

I can't hear you over my perfect eyebrows.

21. Because the truth is, you're amazing just the way you are.

With or without makeup.

Today I started my third week of college at Minnesota State Moorhead. I have survived welcome week, finding my classes on the first day, and being an awkward loner in the dining hall. Even though I have yet to be here for a month, I have already experienced many thoughts and problems that only a new college student can relate to.

"Make sure to get involved when you're in college!"

We've all heard some variation of this phrase, whether it came from parents, other family members, friends, RAs, or college-related articles. And, like many clichés, it's true for the most part. Getting involved during your college years can help you make friends, build your resume, and feel connected to your campus. However, these commitments can get stressful if you're dealing with personal issues, need to work, or aren't sure how to balance classes and everything else going on during the semester.

In college, one of the essential things to have is friends. Yes, textbooks, a laptop, and other school supplies are important but friends are essential. Friends are that support system everybody needs. The more friends you have the better the support system you have. But you also have someone to share experiences with. And don’t settle for just one or two friends because 8 out of 10 times they are busy and you are studying all alone. Or they have other friend groups that do not include you. Don’t settle for just one or two friends; make as many friends as you can. After the first couple of weeks of college, most friend groups are set and you may be without friends.

For a moment your world is spinning. The phone alarm has just scared you awake and you’re flooded by daunting thoughts of the day ahead. Finals week is upon us. It is a magical time of year during which college students everywhere flock to the library in attempt to learn a semester's worth of knowledge in only a week. For some students, it's their first time in the library all semester, maybe ever. Others have slaved away many nights under the fluorescent lights, and are slightly annoyed to find their study space being invaded by amateurs. While these newbies wander aimlessly around the first floor, hopelessly trying to find a table, the OGs of the library are already on the third floor long tables deep into their studies.
