Dollar Store Makeup

Makeup Hidden Gems

Ever walk down the makeup aisle at Marshals, Burlington, Five Below or even Dollar Tree and think "ugh, all these cheap products won't work." Well yes there’s some truth to that most makeup products won’t compare to even drugstore makeup, but sometimes you can find hidden gems!

City Colors Matte Blush

I’ve come across this brand in a lot of stores like Marshalls, Five Below, and DD's Discount Stores. There’s definitely a lot more misses than hits within this brand but the blushes are amazing! They come in a good size pan, they blend beautifully, huge color range and they are all matte! I love a good brush in a decent size pan just because I can coat my blush brush evenly to get an even application. This blush retails for $4.99 on their official website but I've found a kit of 4 of the matte blushes for $6.99 at DDs Discount Store.

LA Colors Single Eyeshadow

Do not confuse this brand with the amazing LA Girl brand. LA Colors is very cheap and more for little girls and pre-teens BUT the single eyeshadow pans that I came across at the Dollar Tree are pretty darn good. I bought a kit with the intention to give it to my little sister but then realized that she has really sensitive skin so makeup from the Dollar Tree probably wouldn't be the best for her to experiment on. So, I took the 6 piece kit apart and just started swatching it. The warm eyeshadow shades were pretty good, definitely a must have for someone on a budget! They blend well, there's good pigmentation, and they aren't patchy. I've swatched LA Colors eyeshadow palettes and they pretty much swatch like chalk but I was very impressed with these single shadows!! If you get a chance definitely scope some up, but NOT the palettes! I especially enjoyed the shade Bare Mauve, it's such a great crease shade.

KleanColor Fake lashes

These lashes are so inexpensive and I've only seen then in bundles at Burlington and let me tell you they are straight dupes for the drugstore Ardell Lashes! They may seem expensive but you have to take into account that you are getting more than one pair of lashes so if you do the math the lashes come out to be approximately 2 bucks the pair! The band isn't too thick or heavy and the lashes are wispy and super flirty. You can find these at Burlington and Marshalls so I'd head over there fast!

I'll keep my eyes open for more hidden gems in inexpensive stores to share with y'all! I always say high end makeup can be worth it but don't always believe the hype there's pretty affordable makeup out there that does the exact same thing!

Christmas Tree

Now that Halloween is over, it's time to focus on the Holiday Season. Don't get me wrong, I think Thanksgiving is great and can't wait for it, but nothing gives me greater joy than watching Freeform's 25 Days of Christmas, lighting peppermint scented candles, decking the halls, and baking gingerbread cookies. So while we approach the greatest time of the year, let's watch the 15 best Christmas movies of all time.

6 Signs You Are An English Major

There are various stereotypes about college students, most of which revolve around the concept of your major. Unfortunately, we often let stereotypes precede our own judgments, and we take what information is immediately available to us rather than forming our own opinions after considerable reflection. If I got a dollar for every time my friends have made a joke about my major I could pay my tuition. One stereotype on campus is the sensitive, overly critical and rigid English major. Here are six telltale signs you are one of them.

27 Things 'The Office' Has Taught Us

"The Office" is a mockumentary based on everyday office life featuring love triangles, silly pranks and everything in between. It can get pretty crazy for just an average day at the office.

When you were little, your parents probably told you television makes your brain rot so you wouldn't watch it for twelve straight hours. However, I feel we can learn some pretty valuable stuff from television shows. "The Office," while a comedy, has some pretty teachable moments thrown in there. You may not know how to react in a situation where a co-worker does something crazy (like put your office supplies in jello) but thanks to "The Office," now you'll have an idea how to behave ifsomething like that should happen.

Here are just a few of the things that religious Office watchers can expect to learn.

Being pre-med is quite a journey. It’s not easy juggling school work, extracurricular activities, volunteering, shadowing, research, and MCAT prep all at the same time. Ever heard of “pain is temporary, but GPA is forever?” Pre-meds don’t just embody that motto; we live and breathe it. Here are 10 symptoms you’re down with the pre-med student syndrome.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

Books were always about understanding for me, about learning the way someone else sees, about connection.

High School And College Sucked All Of The Fun Out Of Reading

I keep making this joke whenever the idea of books is brought up: "God, I wish I knew how to read." It runs parallel to another stupid phrase, as I watch my friends struggle through their calculus classes late at night in our floor lounge: "I hope this is the year that I learn to count." They're both truly idiotic expressions, but, when I consider the former, I sometimes wonder if there's some truth to it.
