If you are into makeup and it is one of your favorite hobbies, you are in complete understanding of how addicting it is to actually buy makeup. It always goes, "I'm kind of running low on eyeliner," "This mascara curls my lashes more than this one," or our go-to favorite "It was on sale!" I myself am guilty of using all three of these lines. Sometimes, I have found myself buying makeup products that I go months without using simply because I forgot I even had them. Although finding unused makeup in your makeup collection can be a pleasant surprise, you must keep an eye out for if the product has expired because makeup indeed expires.
Here are some of your favorites and their expiration dates.
1. Foundation
Liquid and cream forms of foundation typically last six to twelve months. Powder foundations, on the other hand, can last up to two years due to the fact that the dry texture won't cause for any kind of bacterial contamination.
2. Concealer
Concealer typically lasts a year. However, if at any point you notice your concealer becoming more dry, lumpy, or smelling funny, dispose of it immediately.
3. Blush and Bronzer
Blush and bronzers can last you up to two years. Make sure that after using these products, the lids are shut tight to avoid bacterial contamination.
4. Eyebrow Pencil
Eyebrow pencils can last you up to two years. In order to reach this lifespan, be sure to constantly sharpen the tip to get rid of any surface that could contain bacteria.
5. Eyeshadow
Cream shadows will typically last only six months while powder shadows will last up to two years. However, if at any point the eyeshadows become discolored, waxy, or begin to smell, discard of them.
6. Mascara
Mascara has a short lifespan of only four to six months, for the reason that it is one of the easiest products that can dry out since air gets into it during the application process.
7. Eyeliner
Eyeliner can last you between four to six months if it is in liquid form and if it is in pencil form, it can last up to two years. Pencil liners should be cared for the same way as you would care for eyebrow pencils.
8. Lipstick
Lipsticks can last up to two years when kept properly capped and constantly wiped to get rid of bacterial build-up.
Be sure to make a note of the expiration dates of your favorite beauty products and constantly follow up with them to ensure your skin stays healthy.
