Wet N Wild is one of the most inexpensive makeup brands at the drugstore. This brand is able to stay affordable while coming out with high quality products. I must say I am not a fan of all of their products but what brand doesn’t have hits and misses?
I will attempt to do my full face makeup using just this brand. I will document what I used and if I recommend it.
To start off, I primed my face with the...
CoverAll Face Primer
This is the only primer that Wet N Wild carries, and let’s just say they need to come up with something else, because this primer does absolutely nothing. Sorry not sorry, but this primer didn’t even hydrate my face. It has a silicone-y consistency that makes your face feel tacky and sticky and gross. I applied this primer all over my face. I let it set for two minutes and it didn’t dry down. I ended up buffing it out with a flat kabuki brush just to allow for foundation to go on. Hard pass on this primer!
CoverAll Creme Foundation
Just by the name, I’m expecting full coverage foundation! I bought the foundation at my local CVS, and there wasn’t a big selection. I want to say there were about six different shades; they all seemed to be very yellow based, which is good for me because it counteracts my redness. The packaging isn't anything spectacular, but I do prefer foundations that have pumps.
CoverAll Liquid Concealer Wand
This concealer dried extremely fast for me. By the time I had gotten my beauty blender, the concealer had dried and it became very hard to blend. I had to wipe it off and start again. You definitely want to set this concealer quickly because it will crease on you. The key with this concealer is to work fast! The coverage is decent and it did conceal my undereye area pretty well, but I would pass on this concealer. There are better drugstore concealers around the same price point. (Try Maybeline Fit Me Concealer.)
MegaGlo Contouring Palette (Caramel Toffee/Dulce de Leche)
I used the Caramel Toffee highlight to set the concealer under my eyes and it worked out pretty nicely. The highlight in this duo is more of a banana powder, meaning it’s very yellow toned. The yellow will give your under eye area a more “awake” look.
I grabbed the Dulce de Leche palette (shown in picture) and used the highlight to finish setting the rest of the areas where I applied concealer. I personally like a more cool toned bronzer to contour, so I used the Dulce de Leche contour to carve out my cheekbones. The contour blended like a dream and it was extremely pigmented (dust off the excess pigment and use a light hand). Definitely recommend the Contouring Palettes, for 5 bucks each, can’t beat that!
Color Icon Eyeshadow Single & Collection
I didn’t have an eyeshadow primer so I used a tiny bit of concealer all over the lid, and set it with the Color Icon Eyeshadow Single in Brulee. I decided to use the Color Icon Eyeshadow Collection - Comfort Zone for my eyes. I used the right side of the palette and just follow the engraved directions (I know- not creative, on my part.) The eyeshadows are all glitter shadows and very pigmented. The palette didn’t come with any matte shadow, thus I knew it was going to be a hot glittery mess. Here’s how my eye look turned out..
To Reflect Shimmer Palette (Boozy Brunch)
This highlighter is amazing! It has a gold undertone with a pink sheen to it, this will do well on any medium to dark complexions. Don't fret my pale girlfriends, this will look stunning on y'all too, but just use a light hand so it doesn't look like you just splashed glitter on your face! Remember there's a finesse to highlighting!
What I like to do with this highlighter is apply it dry and then dampen my Morphe M510 brush with setting spray (if you read my previous article, you know what I'm talking about) and then apply another layer of highlight. Girls, my highlighter be poppin' all day! Must have highlighter!
Photo Focus Setting Spray
The spray had a bizarre smell, very chemical-like. The actual spray was not mist-like, it felt heavy and tacky. My face felt completely drenched after two sprays at arms length. For the price and the fact that it's one of the only drugstore setting sprays, I'd suck it up and just spray once! I mean the product works, it does make your makeup last- it's just not comfortable when you spray it.
And that is it folks, some hit and misses from the brand, Wet N Wild. I definitely recommend the eyeshadow palettes, the contour palettes, the highlighter, and just for the price the setting spray; everything else ehh, you can get a better deal with other drugstore products.
