Make Your Second Room Feel Like Home

Sometimes you need to bring a little home to wherever you are.

Make Your Second Room Feel Like Home

Being away at school is an amazing experience, but feeling homesick is inevitable. Making the space you live in feel extra cozy makes weathering the bad days a little better and makes coming back from class feel so much better.

Pictures, pictures everywhere.

Putting pictures all around your room, taped to the wall, clothes pinned to yarn, or in frames on your desk will bring everyone you love straight to you.

Colorful throw pillows!

Pillows make the room look brighter, your bed look bigger, and make plopping down on your bed that much more comfortable.

A tapestry hung up on the wall or ceiling.

Hanging a cute patterned tapestry or a banner that represents your sisterhood will remind you of something that makes you smile and make the room look even bigger (something extremely necessary if you're still in a dorm room).

Christmas lights eevveerryywwhheerree!

Hanging lights gives the room ambiance, a nice dim lighting when you can't handle the brightness, and they'll help your room look more put together even if your floor is covered in laundry.

Speaking of your floor, get a rug!

Having a fuzzy rug will help keep your room warmer and make walking barefoot not a cringeworthy feat if you have the linoleum floors that every on-campus room seems to have.

No room will ever compare to yours at home, but you can always make the best out of a second situation!

Everyone tells you that college is hard, but they fail to explain why. Sure, classes are hard. Math sucks, and political science can be so boring. But that's not even what's killing me about college. What's killing me about college is my deterioating mental health.

As a college student, I feel as if people don't understand just how exhausted I, and fellow college students are. We have so many things going on, all the time, and sometimes it's hard to explain to people how we feel. Personally...I'm tired. I'm sad. And I'm struggling every single day with my emotions. But the thing is, it hasn't always been this way. I haven't always hated school, so why am I feeling like this now?

Resting b***h face. Defined as a person, usually a girl, who naturally looks mean when her face is expressionless, without meaning to. Many of you suffer from this "condition." You are commonly asked what's wrong, when nothing is. What people don't know is that is just your facial expression. Here are some things they wish you knew.
