Make Way, Make Way For This Disney Movie
DSNY-Digest

Let's face it, Disney has kind of slacked on animated movies lately. Yes, Frozen and Big Hero 6 were fantastic, but it's been a few years since and before even that, not many Disney movies have been outstanding or impressive to me in the past five years. That was, until November 23, 2016.

You guys, seriously, Moana is the best Disney movie in forever. I mean I'm crazy obsessed over it. So obsessed I have seen this movie four times (I kid you not). I know there's plenty of arguments to go against my claim, but just give this movie a try (or just this article) even if you have another favorite movie! It's so great!!

I'll be honest, I didn't know what to expect from this movie before seeing it. The trailer was just an introductory to Dwayne Johnson's character, Maui with Moana and the cutest pig ever, Pua. It also used a few clips of the movie just to tease views. So shoutout to Disney for not giving away much, if any of, the plot. I still wanted to see the movie, however, because I figured it would be cute, (and shoutout to Tyler for getting me hooked on this movie the first time we saw it).

Y'all. it. was. so. good!!! Okay first of all, her name is Moana. In Hawaiian, "Moana" means ocean, and the entire movie focuses around the ocean. Clever (at least to me)!!

Next, was the songs and the vocals. I didn't even know it was a musical. Every actor sang their own song, no one dubbed over vocals. Even Dwayne Johnson, and it was pretty decent! The songs were incredibly catchy and the slower songs were just as good. So good, I went to Wal-mart right after we saw the movie to buy the soundtrack. I mean, guys, they even brought in freaking Lin-Manuel Miranda from Hamilton to write and compose, even sing at some points.

The plot itself was amazing. The Moana and Maui duo plot was fantastic. The plot was predictable, but in a good way. And if I must say, I don't think the movie was too cheesy to be unbearable. It was all just flat out cute. I honestly thought, being that this movie was aimed toward kids, it was going to be boring or too dumbed down for kids, but heck no. It's so good for every age who watched it.

All in all, I thought the movie was absolutely great. Like as soon as this DVD comes out, I'm buying it. Disney really upped their game with this movie. I really enjoyed it and the graphics used for the movie were also really great. I loved every second of the film. I mean I even cried during one scene and still tear up every time I watch it. I highly recommend this movie to everyone (and I hope I'm not hyping it up too much). Giving a big thumbs up to Disney on this one.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
