It's crazy that if you devote your life to something, you can eventually be amazing at it. The tricky part is making time for it. Realize the fact that I said make time instead of find time.
There are always things going on, but you must make time for the things you love and want. If we only do the bare minimum of what we need, there would never be any joy in our lives.
There have always been times that I was so busy, and I said something like, "I wish I had time to finish this painting." There are only so many times where you can say, "I wish I had time for…" until you go crazy. Luckily, I have supportive people around me that encourage me to make time.
I was talking to my soul-friend and she said, "Stop wishing and start doing." I have a roommate that always plays guitar for a few minutes when he gets home before he does anything else. I asked him about why he does that, and he told me that it's the only time he has in his super packed schedule to do so.
He wants to devote his time to learning something new. I used him as a teacher and I decided to follow in that idea. Sticking with the idea of painting, I just finished three paintings in two weeks.
I was scrolling through my Instagram feed one day, and I came across a video of singer and actress Brandy Norwood. She was singing in the video, but it wasn't her greatest video. Why? Because she was practicing to achieve a "whistle voice." If you don't know, a whistle voice is when people sing very high. For example, Mariah Carey is very famous for hers.
As a singer, Brandy usually stays in lower melodies, but her caption on the video was, "Everyday training this alto whistle tone that I ignored as a child…" She never paid attention to it when she was younger, so she's making time for it now. That just goes to show that no matter how old you are or how talented you already are, you can still make time for something that you want to learn.
It's not about having more time or finding time. It's about making time.
What will you make time for?
