With rainy season hitting the summer in full force, it’s difficult to change your beach plans and fun in the sun to something that seems even remotely close to as entertaining. Even in the rain, you can still make the most out of your summer without dipping too deep into your rainy day fund.
1. Create a bucket list.
If you want to make a plan for the days that are sunny throughout the summer, the best way to do so is to make a bucket list of all of the things you want to see, do, or accomplish this summer or in life. You can even get creative and make your bucket list into an excel sheet or a fun poster.
2. Make a home movie theater.
With inventions such as Netflix and Hulu, you don’t even have to leave your house on a rainy day. Instead, push some mattresses together, throw some blankets and pillows down, invite your friends over, pop some popcorn, and have a movie marathon of all of the movies you just never got around to seeing. Maybe even throw in some home videos to remind yourself of your youth.
3. Take advantage of your time to relax.
In other words, treat yourself! Allow yourself to sleep in, make a solid breakfast (maybe even look up a “Tasty” video and get fancy), get your nails done, do a face mask, get a massage, any indoor pampering activity that you wouldn’t do on a sunny day. The rain encourages laziness, so make the most out of this laziness by rewarding yourself in a refreshing way for all of the productive things you do when it’s nice out.
4. Update your favorite playlist.
If your excuse for having to constantly skip your favorite song from 2015 is that you just don’t have time to delete it, you can change that on a rainy day! This is the perfect time to delete the songs you’re constantly skipping over, or building a whole new playlist to jam out to at the beach when it’s sunny again. You can do this by referring to the “Billboard Top 100” list, or take a look at the “Today’s Top Hits” playlists on whatever music medium you subscribe to. Who knows, you just might discover your new favorite song along the way.
5. Clean up your socials.
Does your social media still have mirror selfies from the good old days? It’s ok, I think I still have pictures from the awkward middle school era. It’s around that time when jobs will start stalking your social media accounts, so rainy days are the perfect time to protect your potential bosses and bored friends from seeing any embarrassing pictures and posts you may have posted when you were younger (be sure to screenshot the most memorable posts of course.)
If none of these options sound appealing, you can always act like a child and splash in the puddles, but that one's up to you.
