I don't know about you, but this summer has felt extremely short. It's nearly mid-July, and I've not had a chance to do half of the things that I planned to do this summer. With only a few short weeks until I head back to school for the Fall, I want to make the time I have left on my break count. Here are a few ways I'm going to make the most of my summer.

1. Wake up early

During breaks, I have the tendency to want to sleep in. Sometimes I'll sleep until three in the afternoon just because I can. Waking up earlier can be a great way to make those summer days feel longer. I've found that the earlier I wake up, the more productive I am.

2. Be active

Working out in the morning always makes me more energetic and enthusiastic to start the day. I like to run in the morning because it makes me feel like I've already done something productive with my day early on.

3. Make lists

Writing things down, whether it be goals or just things that need to get done, always makes the task less daunting. I like to make a list of all of the things that I need/want to get done every day and prioritize. This process makes it easier to start tasks, and it decreases the chances of procrastination. Plus, it's really satisfying to cross things off of lists that have already been done.

The key with all of these steps is to be consistent and follow through with everything on a daily basis. Reassessing and reflecting on what has been accomplished in any given day is a positive way to ensure that I'll repeat the process.

Thank You on wooden blocks

1. Thank you for being the one I can always count on to be honest.

A true friend will tell you if the shirt is ugly, or at least ask to borrow it and "accidentally" burn it.

2. Thank you for accepting me for who I am.

A best friend will love you regardless of the stale french fries you left on the floor of your car, or when you had lice in 8th grade and no one wanted to talk to you.

Do as I say, not as I do.

Your eyes widen in horror as you stare at your phone. Beads of sweat begin to saturate your palm as your fingers tremble in fear. The illuminated screen reads, "Missed Call: Mom."

Growing up with strict parents, you learn that a few things go unsaid. Manners are everything. Never talk back. Do as you're told without question. Most importantly, you develop a system and catch on to these quirks that strict parents have so that you can play their game and do what you want.

"Friends" maybe didn’t have everything right or realistic all the time, but they did have enough episodes to create countless reaction GIFs and enough awesomeness to create, well, the legacy they did. Something else that is timeless, a little rough, but memorable? Living away from the comforts of home. Whether you have an apartment, a dorm, your first house, or some sort of residence that is not the house you grew up in, I’m sure you can relate to most of these!
