Have you ever had a really bad day and wished something would instantly make it all better? Well, believe it or not there are small things people can do that will make their day in a blink of an eye. You do not need money to make a positive impact on another person’s life! So, take this into consideration and then go out and try them.
1. Send a positive text message
Sometimes sending a quick text to someone can go a long way. Tell them to have a good day, that you’re thinking about them, or even that you love them if that is how you feel! I know I love texting the people close to me so they know that they are on my mind.
2. Give them a hug
The one thing that I love the most when I am having a bad day or feeling down is a hug! Hugs make me feel cleansed in a way and it relieves stress instantly. Try it, I promise you will make someone feel better after this!
3. Treat them to coffee or lunch
Going to lunch or getting a quick cup of coffee tends to lead into conversation and this can help them talk about anything that may be bothering them which is what they may need. Sometimes people just need someone to talk to, and treating them to lunch or coffee is just a bonus!
4. Tell them they look beautiful/handsome
If I am feeling bad, I know when one of my friends tells me how good I look it makes me feel better. Sometimes people just need to hear positive comments like that!
5. Pay for the customer's coffee in line behind you
The thing that makes me happiest is when I am at Starbucks and I hear that the person in front of my paid for my coffee. It makes me realize that there are still good people in the world and it makes me smile for the rest of the day. So, pay for someone’s coffee even if you don’t know them because I PROMISE YOU that you will make their day a million times better!
6. Hold the door open for someone
Whether you are at the gym, school, or the mall I know that holding the door for a person behind you is very awesome. It shows manners and it may even show them that it is the polite thing to do so they start doing it as well. Help someone out, make their day easier by doing one tiny thing and I promise it will go a long way.
7. Write a letter
I know what you’re thinking, “Who writes anymore?” and that’s exactly why this is something someone will appreciate. Letters are more personal and intimate so writing to someone you care about will show them that you are really up to making them smile.
8. Bake for them
My favorite thing to do is to bake, hands down. It is not only fun for me, but I get to watch people enjoy it! If my roommates are having a bad day, I know it will make them happy to come home to a freshly baked plate of chocolate chip cookies!
9. Leave a generous tip for your waiter/waitress
As a former waitress myself, I know that tips are what make us the happiest. As a customer, leaving a little extra money after the tip could make a servers’ day easily. Most people who serve food are doing that to make extra cash, and by leaving them extra you just helped them out financially.
To make someone’s day whether you know them or not, you do not need to have loads of money or connections like most people think they do. The little things that I talked about above can mean way more than buying someone a brand new car. I know that I would rather have someone actually listen to my problems if I am having a bad day over them spending big amounts of money on me. Make someone’s day by doing the little things, because I promise they all add up to equal extreme happiness!
