7 Easy Ways For College Students To Make Money

Being college students, we are well-known for having a reputation of surviving off of ramen noodles and mac and cheese. But it doesn't have to be that way! Between balancing school work, clubs and friends, having a job is not always a main priority. Here are seven easy ways to make money while you're still in school:

1. Sell your used clothes to consignment shops:

Those graphic Aero tees that have been sitting in your closet since middle school? Get rid of them already! One of the best consignment shops to sell to is Plato's Closet. The only downfall is that they don't always take everything and sometimes give you little money back. But if you have a closet full of old clothes and you're looking to make a few bucks, then selling them is your best bet!

2. Sell things online:

There are many different websites that you can sell things on, but Poshmark and Mercari are two of my favorites. Poshmark is a great website to sell gently used clothes, and Mercari can be used to sell literally anything! All you have to do is post pictures of what you're selling, and the best part is you choose how much you want to sell it for (Personally, I would recommend doing this over taking your clothes to a consignment shop).

3. Sell your used textbooks:

Most schools have a buy back fair at the end of the year, but you can also sell them online to websites such as Amazon. A lot of times your school might not take back certain books because they're getting a new edition for the next year, but Amazon usually takes back any books no matter how old they are.

4. Save cans and bottles:

A lot of people think I'm crazy for doing this, but do you realize how much money you make from saving cans and bottles?! Think of how much water you drink during the day (and of course all of that beer at night...).

5. Save spare change:

Find a penny, pick it up! I put all of my spare change in a giant water jug, and my goal is to fill it. Every time I have spare change I'll throw it into my jug, right now I have about $120 and that only covers the bottom!

6. Get paid to take surveys online:

Many websites such as SwagBucks pay people to take surveys. Every time you take a survey, you get a certain amount of points that equal cents. When you reach up to $3 worth of points, you can redeem it for gifts cards to places such as Walmart, Amazon, and even Starbucks!

7. Write for The Odyssey!

If you have a passion for writing, then this is the perfect opportunity for you! Every time your article gets the most shares per week out of everyone who writes for Odyssey in your community, you win $20!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.

December... it's full of finals, due dates, Mariah Carey, and the holidays. It's the worst time of the year, but the best because after finals, you get to not think about classes for a month and catch up on all the sleep you lost throughout the semester. But what's worse than finals week is the last week of classes, when all the due dates you've put off can no longer be put off anymore.

Thanksgiving break is over and Christmas is just around the corner and that means, for most college students, one hellish thing — finals week. It's the one time of year in which the library becomes over populated and mental breakdowns are most frequent. There is no way to avoid it or a cure for the pain that it brings. All we can do is hunker down with our books, order some Dominos, and pray that it will all be over soon. Luckily, we are not alone in this suffering. To prove it, here are just a few of the many deranged thoughts that go through a college student's mind during finals week.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.
