The #MakeItAmazing campaign was created in honor of my coach's daughter, Mia, who passed away from childhood cancer last year. Make It Amazing uses the letters of Mia's name to create something inspiring. Mia was a positive and amazing girl who never gave up and fought hard.

I think that often in life, we forget how to live. We are so consumed by responsibilities and commitments that we ignore life's true purpose. Here's a reminder and a guide to help you Make It Amazing and make life beautiful, like Mia.

1. Appreciate

Show gratitude to those in your life. Take a minute to tell your parents you love them and you appreciate all that they do for you. Cherish your friendships. Because of how busy our lives are, so many people's actions go unnoticed. We forget to say thank you and I love you. So take this time to appreciate all you have.

2. Take action

What are you waiting around for? Don't be afraid to take on new challenges. You can do it! Don't keep life "on hold". If you've been meaning to do something, get it done as soon as possible. You'll feel much better once you do. Life is easier without burdens.

3. Try your hardest

Going along with taking action, put in effort into whatever you are doing; effort can go a long way. Get yourself used to giving it your all and be proactive! The result of trying your best can be rewarding and satisfying.

4. Don't forget to breathe

Life is too short to stress about the little things. Take it one step at a time. It is important to pay attention to what your body wants; put your physical health and mental health first. Everyone deserves some "me-time".

5. Smile

Science has shown that simulating a genuine smile can boost your mood! It is also very contagious so by you smiling, you are helping others! Smiling also relieves stress because it releases endorphins. Don't forget to smile, it's good for you!

6. Think positive

Is the glass half full or half empty? People who think more positively and are truly optimistic have an easier time getting through tasks and life in general! Always look on the bright side of things, regardless of the situation. No matter how bad the situation gets, never give up! There is always light at the end of the tunnel.

7. Be compassionate

Be kind to everyone around you. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Kindness can go a long way, continue to pay it forward! You never know what someone else is going through and your small kind actions or words can change someone's day!

8. Laugh

We've all heard the term "laughter is the best medicine." Like smiling, laughter is also contagious. Did you know that laughing often actually helps your body fight off harmful diseases? Laughing lowers our stress too.

9. Love

Love is what keeps the world going. Love for each other but most importantly, love for ourselves. It is a pretty simple concept that we often forget to acknowledge for what it truly is and how it affects us.

10. Enjoy it

Last but not least, enjoy life. Life is too short, so live life to the fullest! Always Make It Amazing.

I know every college student has daily thoughts throughout their day. Whether you're walking on campus or attending class, we always have thoughts running a mile a minute through our heads. We may be wondering why we even showed up to class because we'd rather be sleeping, or when the professor announces that we have a test and you have an immediate panic attack.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

"A Christmas Story" is the star on top of the tree.

The Great Christmas Movie Debate

One staple of the Christmas season is sitting around the television watching a Christmas movie with family and friends. But of the seemingly hundreds of movies, which one is the star on the tree? Some share stories of Santa to children ("Santa Claus Is Coming to Town"), others want to spread the Christmas joy to adults ("It's a Wonderful Life"), and a select few are made to get laughs ("Elf"). All good movies, but merely ornaments on the Christmas tree of the best movies. What tops the tree is a movie that bridges the gap between these three movies, and makes it a great watch for anyone who chooses to watch it. Enter the timeless Christmas classic, "A Christmas Story." Created in 1983, this movie holds the tradition of capturing both young and old eyes for 24 straight hours on its Christmas Day marathon. It gets the most coverage out of all holiday movies, but the sheer amount of times it's on television does not make it the greatest. Why is it,
then? A Christmas Story does not try to tell the tale of a Christmas miracle or use Christmas magic to move the story. What it does do though is tell the real story of Christmas. It is relatable and brings out the unmatched excitement of children on Christmas in everyone who watches. Every one becomes a child again when they watch "A Christmas Story."

It's the most wonderful time of the year! Christmas is one of my personal favorite holidays because of the Christmas traditions my family upholds generation after generation. After talking to a few of my friends at college, I realized that a lot of them don't really have "Christmas traditions" in their family, and I want to help change that. Here's a list of Christmas traditions that my family does, and anyone can incorporate into their family as well!

It’s here; that time of year when college students turn into preschoolers again. We cry for our mothers, eat everything in sight, and whine when we don’t get our way. It’s finals, the dreaded time of the semester when we all realize we should have been paying attention in class instead of literally doing anything else but that. Everyone has to take them, and yes, unfortunately, they are inevitable. But just because they are here and inevitable does not mean they’re peaches and cream and full of rainbows. Surviving them is a must, and the following five phases are a reality for all majors from business to art, nursing to history.
