Make America Kind Again

You can't spell "USA" without "US."

Make America Kind Again

In the midst of the events that have occurred recently, thoughts have started growing within my brain. Are there things wrong with America? Yes. Are there things wrong with China? Yes. Are there things wrong with Russia? Yes. What about Spain, Germany, and Portugal? Yes. What about Mexico, Canada, and Brazil? Yes.

Similarly to people, no country is perfect. Countries have flaws within their government and social systems. For example, everything bad with America is not Obama's fault. I can tell you that violence, anger, and the unnecessary meanness towards each other is not going to fix America. The change that needs to be seen in this beautiful country begins with us as individuals. It begins within every dorm room, house, town, city, state, and then after all that, we change as a country.

We must learn to mature. Sadly, that means the older generations. They seem to be more judgmental than the younger people. The younger people are more open minded yet we get blamed for everything. Those with hate and anger within them need to be prayed for. Trying to force change upon them will not work. Aside from becoming mature, people need to become respectful. Who cares if you like Trump and your friend liked Hillary? Respect each others beliefs and views and continue being friends. Instead of letting these traits define us, we are letting them divide us.

Another problem is racism and that is not okay. White lives matter. African American lives matter. Muslim lives matter. Asian lives matter. All lives matter and while we are at it, all lives includes the lives of women. Police lives matter. This country is not how it used to be. We should not be divided by North and South. We should not be divided by Christianity or Atheism. Let people have their rights of freedom to be who they want to be.

The era that America is in right now really requires us all to get a grip and get along. Fighting one another is going to get us nowhere. The first step in "Making America Great Again" is making America kind again. If all we have if hate and anger towards each other, America will not be great again. Learn to give instead of take and learn to love instead of hate.

Dear Mom,

You took care of me and my brothers our entire lives and you still continue to! I will not be able to truly grasp all of the hard work that you put into this family until I create my own one day. But, I know that there are plenty of times I forgot to give you a simple thank you or an appreciative smile. I thank you for everything that you have done for me and will continue to do for me. Here are some examples of those times where you had my back and I forgot to pat your back for saving me:

College is hard. As people ages 18-22, we’re just trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives, our careers, our eating habits, exercise routines, sleep patterns, and other necessities for adult life. We definitely don’t take proper care of ourselves; it’s basically impossible when we have essays, tests and readings due and somehow we’re supposed to eat right, exercise and sleep. We’re doomed to get sick. I have zero experience in science but when I get sick there are certain things I do to make myself better.

Now that it seems “talking” is the new way to date, and will stay that way until another idiotic term is used to describe the people who can’t settle down and just date someone, I feel as if it’s time to go over the unwritten rules of “talking.”

Rule 1. Having feeling without feeling.
