Now more than ever, thrifting has become the biggest hobby of the Millenial and Gen Z population. But it can get tricky and you may not find amazing things on your first or even your second trip, but fear not. It's all about the thrill of the hunt!

Yes, it can be intimidating to go into a thrift store and know exactly what to look for and where to look. Thrift stores are challenging in that, not everything is laid out to be found easily. But that's the fun of it! Here are a few ways to spruce up your home with some stellar finds from your local thrift shop!

1. Always, Always, Always go to the home goods area of the store

Let me tell you, there are some great finds over there. A lot of the times when you're out thrifting you can find some pretty questionable things, but most of the time you can find BRAND NEW THINGS! If you are moving into a new apartment, new house, or looking for a unique gift, this area is *perfect* for your shopping needs. From cute coffee mugs, decorations, old books, dinner plates, and seasonal throw pillows; neglecting the home goods section is on the list of "Things NOT to do at a thrift store"!

2. Don't be afraid to go searching.

When you're in the clothing area, it can be extremely overwhelming and time-consuming shuffling through each and every hanger, but trust me. It'll be worth it in the end. When you finally find that cool vintage Rolling Stones tee that would otherwise cost you $35+ at Forever21, you'll be so proud of yourself for saving money, recycling and being earth conscious. And to that end, do. not. forget. to browse the men's section! In fact, you should start there. You know how many Grandpa's and Dad's used to own some fire flannels and sweaters? A perfect opportunity for gift searching, or soul-searching. You decide!

3. Have an open mind!

Being able to let your creative juices flow is the NUMBER ONE RULE OF THRIFTING! That old, dusty shelf sitting in the corner has a lot of potential! From the painted vase sitting on the bottom shelf to the abandoned Christmas Tree; the possibilities for renovation are endless! You may have to invest your time and a few dollars into sprucing something up, but that's the beauty of shopping secondhand! You can make it original and unique! Finding a used biker jacket or denim jacket and adding your own personal patches and jewelry can make something drab into something completely fab.

Good Luck, bargain shoppers!

New year, new semester, not the same old thing. This semester will be a semester to redeem all the mistakes made in the previous five months.

1. I will wake up (sorta) on time for class.

Let's face it, last semester you woke up with enough time to brush your teeth and get to class and even then you were about 10 minutes late and rollin' in with some pretty unfortunate bed head. This semester we will set our alarms, wake up with time to get ready, and get to class on time!

And so it begins.

1. Walk in motivated and ready to rock

Camping out at the library is not for the faint of heart. You need to go in as a warrior. You usually have brought supplies (laptop, chargers, and textbooks) and sustenance (water, snacks, and blanket/sweatpants) since the battle will be for an undetermined length of time. Perhaps it is one assignment or perhaps it's four. You are motivated and prepared; you don’t doubt the assignment(s) will take time, but you know it couldn’t be that long.
