With 2016 finally coming to an end, it's time to reflect on the year and make some changes going into 2017. According to Statistic Brain, 49% of people will find success in their New Year's Resolutions. The new year can be the opportunity to make the best version of yourself this year. Here are a few easy ways to make this year's resolution stick:
1. Start Now!
Stop making excuses about how you will start next year. Start now. Get a head-start on your resolution. Whether your resolution is going to get in shape, be more positive, or getting organized, if you start now, you will be ahead of yourself if you start before the New Year. Resolutions don't have to start at the beginning of the year. This is simply an excuse and procrastination method we tell ourselves in order to not start today. "New Year, New Me" is a popular saying, but you can start now. Under 50% of people will make it past June, keeping with there resolution. If you want to make a change in 2017, start making and preparing for it now. This way, in 2017, you will have every second to fulfill your goal.
2. Take advantage of every opportunity.
Your resolution can be about trying something new. If something falls into place, go for it! Don't be afraid to take a risk! Apply for jobs or positions you wouldn't dream of getting, meet and talk to new people, reach out to those who have fallen out of your life, don't be afraid of new places and new things. Be spontaneous.
3. Break it down.
Goals are easier to be achieved if they're broken down into smaller steps. Create a list of reasonably-sized goals in order to reach your main one. Having several smaller goals could be easier to obtain than one large one. If you remove something from your life entirely and all at once, there is a greater chance to revert back to old habits. Gradually work into your goals. If you mess up, see it as a set back, not a failure. Don't give up.
4. Stay motivated.
Remind yourself of your goal. Make a checklist to be able to mark things off. Remember, don't be afraid to reward yourself every so often. By telling your family and friends about your resolution, they can help you to stick with and maintain it throughout the year!
