Throughout high school, everyone is searching for their passion. You are looking for an opportunity to do something you love for the rest of your life. You’re next step is four or more years of college, so you have to find something right for you. For some it comes naturally, and I happened to be one of those lucky people who knew right away what I wanted to do.
Math was always an easy subject for me growing up. I had a clear understanding of it from a young age and it was something I didn’t mind learning about. I was able to see myself in a career related to math but I was never sure what. However, something else I found a passion for was art. I have taken art classes since I was in kindergarten and I have always loved it as well. I wanted to find a combination of the two and I found that in architecture.
When I was a freshman in high school, I started more investigation about the career. I found architecture so fascinating and the more I researched, the more I fell in love with it. I knew exactly where I wanted to go with it, and I knew by sophomore year what my dream school was. I got to visit Roger Williams University that same year and it gave me drive. I knew what I wanted to work towards and that was to be able to get into the architecture program. After hearing about their program, study abroad opportunities, and the experiences I would be able to take part in, I couldn’t help but get excited.
I am a freshman at Roger Williams University right now, and I have just started my first few weeks in the architecture program. Although it is intense, I’m really falling in love with this place more and more. I really do believe that my major was made for me and a smart choice. As the weeks goes on, I can’t wait to see what is in store and I really feel like this is what I am supposed to do. Listen to your gut and do what you are truly passionate about. I am doing that right now and I couldn’t be happier.
