There are those weekend nights that we look forward to all week. The ones where we get dressed up, put makeup on, and take lots of pictures. We love those types of nights, whether it’s a date party, a house party, or just a night out on the town. Those are the nights that we look forward to. There are also those weekend nights, however, that are not as exciting, but certainly necessary. Those are the nights that we have come to call, Girls Nights In.
You know, those nights where we sit in our favorite pair of sweatpants, drinking wine, talking about whatever we want, and eating (everything). These are also the nights that are spent bonding, and laughing until we can’t breathe. I did my research, and I’ve compiled a list of the most important necessities to ensure the best possible Girls Night In.
1. The Comfiest Clothing Possible
Ditch the tight jeans and heels because tonight is about PJ’s and fuzzy socks. It’s also time for that old t-shirt that only makes its way out of your drawer once in a while. It’s not time to impress anyone or to even think about your outfit; it’s Girls Night In.
2. The Perfect Chick Flick
Whether you are actually watching the movie, or simply using it for a source of background noise, the choice is strategic. If you’ve already seen the movie, it has to be something you love enough to yell, ‘wait, guys! Remember this part?’ then resume back to conversation.
3. Food!!!!!!!!
Ice cream and pizza proved to be the most popular answers, though Chinese food and other types of junk food follow closely behind. Tonight is the night to forget about the gym and ‘eating better’, and to indulge yourself in the sweetest, saltiest foods you can find.
4. Wine, Wine, Wine
Whether you are 21 or 55, I’m sure that we can all agree – it’s not a girls’ night without wine. In college we pour glasses from our bags of wine and when we’re older we are certainly somewhat more sophisticated – but the concept is the same.
5. The Best of Friends.
This goes without saying. Sure, all of the above things help to make the night special, but the real necessity is the people you choose to spend it with.
